BBC Interview Exposes Miliband’s Weak Grasp on Reality

by Sallust
22 March 2025 9:01 AM

Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero Ed Miliband appeared on Radio 4 Today on Friday morning to talk about the disastrous electricity substation fire that knocked out Heathrow.

Mr Miliband was pressed by presenter Amol Rajan on the lack of resilience in the infrastructure before moving on to other matters. Rajan homed in on high energy bills, but it soon became clear that there is absolutely and unequivocally no other cause of high energy bills apart from volatile fossil fuel markets and there is only one solution. Apparently.

Moreover, although bills are going up, they are in fact inevitably going to do a U-turn shortly as the effects of Government policy and its ‘mission’ kick in:

AR: Let’s turn to your announcement today, £200 million upfront then from GB Energy for solar panels. When will that investment, that £200 million upfront, provide a return, i.e., save more than £200 million for public services?

EM: Well, for the public services it‘ll provide a return straightaway because the great thing about this scheme is because we know schools and hospitals are facing still very high energy bills. Our dependence on fossil fuels causes those high bills. This is, frankly, a no-brainer because solar panels on 200 schools, 200 hospitals, will cut their bills something like an average of £25,000 a school, £45,000 for a hospital and that money will start flowing straightaway. Some of these panels will be in place over the summer so in the next academic year the schools will be seeing those cuts in the bills and because it’s funded by GB Energy the return is a day-one return. And it shows what a publicly-owned energy company, GB Energy, can do for communities up and down this country.

AR: Can I ask you about two specific aspects of Net Zero before we get to some of the wider issues? The first is that your election manifesto promised 650,000 new green jobs as a result of your Green Prosperity Plan across the country by 2030. How’s that going?

EM: [pause] Well, we’re confident we’re going to provide hundreds of thousands of jobs as a result of our drive to Net Zero. The CBI …

AR: How’s it going?

EM: … The CBI produced a really important report a couple of weeks ago which said that the Net Zero economy grew three times faster than the economy as a whole last year, a 10% more employment as a result of that. I think over 100,000 in the last couple of years. A total employment effect. And this is the truth Amal, this is the growth opportunity of the 21st century: turn your back on Net Zero and you turn your back on business investment, good jobs, innovation for the future and Britain leading in the key industrial areas of the future.

AR: But that’s a nice idea, nice ambition, but what’s, what’s the reality? How many jobs has your Green Prosperity Plan created? That’s what I want to know because there was another report, which I’m sure you saw and might have even raised your eyebrow, Mr Miliband, from the Tony Blair institute which came out last month and I know you speak often to that institute, they’ve got close ties to Sir Keir Starmer’s No. 10, and they said that the 650,000 new jobs is a complete fantasy. They say the best-case scenario, and I quote, is 425,000, so about a third less, by 2050. What do you know that they don’t?

EM: Ah, I, I, I’m very confident about our figures and I’m very confident that we will created hundreds of thousands of jobs in a green economy and, look, it’s all about the investments we make. If you take carbon capture and storage for example , £21.7 billion investment over 25 years, it’s going to create 4,000 jobs straightaway, up to 50,000 jobs over the medium term, so look …

AR: But what progress have you made so far?

EM: Let me just make this point. I’ve come back from China recently, you know, they realise that this is the growth opportunity of the 21st century. I’ve come back from India. They also realise this so we can argue about the figures till the cows come home but frankly if you, if you want to create growth in our economy, if you want to create the jobs of the future, this is an absolutely essential part of the answer.

AR: Sure, but it’s not about cows coming home or not coming home or whatever it is what cows do when they don’t come home, it’s …

EM: sniggers

AR: … about your manifesto promise. I just want to know. You made a manifesto promise –650,000 by 2030 – we’re nine months in, how much progress have you made in power to that 650,000 new jobs?

EM: Well, I’m saying that I’m confident about our pledges. I’m confident that we’re going to meet them er, and we are already making progress. I’ve given you [an] example that is carbon capture and storage. As a result of our Clean Power Action Plan, the plan that we have put in place, the clean power by 2030, we’re going to see £40 billion a year of mainly private investment, that’s £200 billion investment, also creating hundreds of thousands of jobs over the course of the next five years, so I’m absolutely confident about our plan for that target.

AR: Another promise made by Sir Keir Starmer was that bills for our beloved listeners would be £300 lower by 2030. How’s that going?

EM: [sucks in breath] We said that bills would be up to £300 lower by 2030. That is part of our Clean Power Plan …

AR: How’s that going?

EM: … it’s true to say that bills have gone up in the first eight months of this Government and I’ll tell you why: because of our dependence on fossil fuels and at the moment we’re in the grip of fossil fuel markets, controlled by petrostates and dictators so we saw the global gas price or the UK gas price, which is controlled by global markets, go up by 15% over the last quarter and that’s feeding through to bills and there is only one answer to this, which is clean home-grown power which we can control, so that every solar panel we put up, every wind turbine we erect, every piece of grid we build and this is controversial for some people, gets us greater energy security and takes us further towards cutting bills. But the truth is the cheapest form of power to build and operate in our country today is renewable power and that’s why we’ve got to drive towards it and that is absolutely what this Government – er – is doing, wasting no time in doing it.

AR: But of course, you make the case for what you’re planning to do to get bills down. It’s just the evidence of your first eight months is things are going in the wrong direction, so you said in the election last year bills will be £300 lower by 2030. Eight, nine months in bills are actually, according to Ofgem, £160 higher so they’ve gone in the wrong direction. If bills have gone up by £160 in your first nine months why should anyone have any confidence that you’re going to now get them down by £460 in the next five years? That’s hot air, you might call it.

EM: You need to interrogate the evidence about why bills have gone up. And the reason why …

AR: But whatever you’re doing’s not working is it?

EM: … well, er, er, absolutely it is, look the truth is you’ve got to interrogate the evidence about why the bills have gone up and they’ve gone up because of our dependence on fossil fuels and that’s why our mission is to stop our dependence on fossil fuels, put in place the clean energy we need so that we can get bills down. So there is only one way to bring bills down for good. At the same time we’re making decisions for example with our warm homes discount next winter to cut bills by another 100, £150 for 2.7 million families so at the same time that we have this long-term plan in place, in the short term we are making decisions that are fair to make sure that we help families who are most vulnerable.

AR: And the people who pay for this transition are your constituents, they’re our listeners, people who often don’t have much money. You’re asking your constituents to pay more in taxes to fund this agenda. You’re doing so while cutting support for some people with disabilities, some people with mental health conditions, some people who might argue that they’re simply too ill to work, so by the way cutting winter fuel payments for lots of people and international aid. Is that the Labour Party that you signed up for, and once led?

EM: I totally disagree with your analysis, Amal, of the meaning and importance of our clean power mission. Our clean power mission is about reducing costs for people because why did we, you know you can have short-term memories in this, why did we see bills rocket after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine? Why are bills staying high at the moment?

AR: But they’ve gone up – with Labour in power! [talking over each other]

EM: Because of our dependence on fossil fuels and there is only one answer as I’ve said, which is to drive towards clean home-grown power, so, so the old argument about climate and Net Zero was ‘well, it’ll be more expensive in the short-term but it’s right for the long-term’. The truth is that for a country like Britain where we are subject to global markets on fossil fuels this is actually the way to get bills down.

The interview then ended.

You can hear the whole interview here. Fast forward to about 02:16:00.

Stop Press: Mr Miliband later admitted on LBC that the new solar panels for schools and hospitals will be coming, wait for it, from China among other places:

When asked where the solar panels will come from he conceded that some will come from China, which is responsible for an estimated 80% of total global supply. Quizzed as to why British ones were not being used, Mr Miliband told LBC radio: “Our solar panel industry has not got this kind of share of the market.”

When asked if they will come from China or Russia, he said: “Some of them will be, they’ll be from different countries, but that’s why we’ve got to build our domestic industry.”

Critics say it makes no sense for Britain to attempt to cut emissions in the UK by shipping materials from China, where they are likely to have been manufactured using electricity from coal-fired power plants. The Conservatives’ energy spokesman Andrew Bowie said: “If these solar panels do come from thousands of miles away it shows how ridiculous this whole thing is. Ed Miliband and his eco warriors need to get real.”

It seems creating “hundreds of thousands” of green jobs in Britain will have to wait a bit longer.

Perhaps sane, robust politicians in various parts of the world, so that the US biodefence lot are TTFO. And reasonably intelligent normal people might do the same thing.

All fairly plausible, but the timing of Event 201 in Oct 2019 doesn’t feel like a coincidence.

“why it all carried on once it was obvious the virus was not a major threat to human life and the extreme responses were not justified.”

They never were, if people around you are dropping dead in the streets you will not need to be told to stay in your home. And even if you were short of shooting people some would and some wouldn’t, and society would have collapsed anyways.

This video is from 2020 and the chap presenting has done a stellar job of looking at bioterror and pandemic simulations starting in 1990. Yes, the infamous Dark Winter and Lockstep are covered too;

I’m in France and my wonderful government have banned Rumble. I know I can use a VPN, but it is so tiresome living in a regime whose philosophy is so fragile and inconsistent that it is compelled to ban information rather than counter it.

That’s pretty horrific that your government can just ban a platform such as Rumble. What is their reasoning?

But we live in a democracy, so the solution is very simple. If we don’t want our.lives to be subjected to the ambitions and whims of the US biodefence establishment and their various technocratic stooges around the world, then all we have to do is vote for the party that stands against that at the next election and if they win they’ll make it happen for us, because they represent the people and that’s what the people want.

That is the ridiculous story that most people still believe in. That we live in a democracy and our representatives run the country according to the will of the majority and with respect for the minority.

I’m sorry to say that we aren’t a democracy in any traditional sense anymore. We can vote for a government, but as soon as the votes are counted they just go their own sweet way. Suddenly the welfare and the wellbeing of citizens is out and following supranational groupthink that we are never asked about is in, which we are committed to at enormous expense. Even our Prime Minister looks like the Regional Manager of GlobalCorp, there to follow policy, or be dismissed…

I appreciate that a lot of work has gone in to producing this article but I do not buy the story. The planning and the wholesale Lockstep approach, virtually worldwide undermines Dr Jones’ version of events. Event 201 was no coincidence and neither was the virus at the back of their table-top exercise, oh yes, they named it coronavirus.

The so-called “vaccines” had been in preparation for years and Fauci had patents already sorted. The only bit of the story that might be plausible is that there was an accidental lab leak and given that their planning was pretty much complete they decided to take advantage and kick off the Agenda 2030 programme although this is stretching the story. I am not convinced.

Too many countries adopted identical scripts and spouted the same trite slogans:

‘No one is safe until everyone is safe.’

‘Build Back Better’

…and so on.

Hospitals emptying old and sick patients in to nursing homes and then killing them.

Criminalising the few decent doctors who attempted early treatments. The worldwide outlawing of two of the safest drugs on the planet – Ivermectin and Hydroxichloroquine and which pertains to this day.

The worldwide adoption of NPI’s in the full knowledge that these could only adversely affect health.

Worldwide pushing of “vaccines.” And why? It is now clear that the purpose of the injections is to chip, maim and kill or in shorthand, depopulation.

No, I will never accept cock-up theory for any of this. What we are living through has been years in the planning and nothing short of massive civil disobedience can derail it.

Stop ignoring the obvious and less overthinking. What is happening is simply hidden in plain sight.

I am weary of cock-up theory.

Whilst one should never underestimate the incompetence of those in charge it seems incredulous beyond belief that they were all so incompetent at the same time.

What has and still is happening is beyond evil.
Meanwhile bastards like Hancock et al enjoy the limelight, and adulation? – made possible only by a compliant MSM and sheep.
My only solace is that Hell awaits them all.

If you had ever experienced the senior decision making processes in government, any government, you would know that “cock-up theory” does explain 99% of our problems. The other 1% is the product of megalomaniacs but the amplification comes from the fools who validate Hayek’s proposition that, “in government, scum floats to the top.”

Well said, HP, and I concur. The cock-up theory suits those that haven’t fully realised the dire shitstorm we are in and who somehow wish it wasn’t happening, that’s it’s all a dreadful mistake. I do think that there are those involved in the process who are little busybody types who can’t admit to a darker agenda and who think that what they do is OK – this includes the health service, government, MPs, media and so on. These people are the enablers, just as the millions of compliant masses who refuse to see the truth or who only listen to the propaganda are also enablers. The dark forces in the shadows rely on these enablers.

I still have a sneaky suspicion that in a parallel universe where, in 2016, the UK voted remain and the US voted for Clinton, 2020 would be a year that had a nasty bit of flu and life carried on as usual. COVID-19 put the technocrats back in charge, impoverished populations and saw a massive push towards Agenda 30 that had been derailed by the possibility of more populations getting ideas that don’t chime with the elitists.

COVID-19 was convenient for all the wrong reasons. And now the people who caused this mess are completely in power and telling us we have to suffer to clean up their mess.

The difference between our world and that blissfully ignorant parallel world is that a significant proportion of our population knows what these supra-national organisations are about, who is tied up with them and just how dangerous they really are.

Yes and no ..Much of what we are currently experiencing was planned and published BEFORE Trump and Brexit, while the ‘elites’ still believed they had the cash and propaganda infrastructure to control us Plebs… I believe when Trump and Brexit occurred despite the extreme efforts to the contrary of the ‘Western’ / NATO technocratic elites, I reckon they fast tracked a plan that is consequently occurring too soon… The technology it relies on investing in simply isn’t there yet … the preparatory brainwashing of our kids is not complete …and grumpy old dinosaurs like us should have been dead … 😉

That’s a great article thanks Will – a laudable and as far as I’ve seen thus far the best and most plausible account of what happened late 2019 – early 2020.

Doubtless it will have to be revised over time and – as other posters have pointed out – the timing of Event 201 does seem a remarkable coincidence which may have to be explained.

But as a first stab at history this is pretty good imo – the sort of thing the MSM should be doing, and only a few years would have been regarded as a major piece of investigative reporting, which would have gone far to making the journalist’s reputation. How times have changed.

I see nothing much to disagree with in either the contents or conclusion of this article. I believe this was an orchestrated event and an orchestrated response by Globalists who want maximum possible control over the global population and will do anything they deem necessary to achieve it.

We have been subjected to a massive medical and psychological experiment and – sadly – our collective response was not good. But that was partly because so many ordinary independent thinkers took time to identify the PsyOps Campaign; link to the scientists and medics who were speaking out and issuing warnings and then to get themselves organised ….. all made far harder because of the suppression of free speech at the scientific level and at the demos level by closing the pubs.

We will be much better placed to push-back the next time they try this. We are many; they are few. And they fear us just as much as we fear them.

Another event plays into the biowarfare scenario and that is something was going on at the Lab in Winnipeg that involved 2 Chinese scientists working on something in the Lab that was funded by the Chinese biowarfare unit. These 2 scientists were suddenly told to leave Canada and have vanished. The Trudeau government refuses to release any information on what transpired there even when held in contempt of Parliament. It is also suggested that Trudeau called the last election in 2021 to thwart the Parliament seeking answers.

I don’t buy that #TheGreatCovid19Fraud was ‘just’ an overactive BioSecurity response…Too many coincidences… I see it this way; #NATO was facing an existential crisis with Trump and Brexit turning away from an organisation that has failed to repurpose itself post fall of USSR, and the loss of ‘elite’ Authority Trump and Brexit embodied and represented. Brexit had to be emasculated by binding the UK to a NATO wide biosecurity strategy, and the economic benefits Trump was bringing to AverageJoeAmerican had to be destroyed to ensure he lost the Election. Tie this to a NATO strategic aim to maintain its global supremacy via ‘The Fourth Industrial Revolution’ /#TheGreatClimateRobbery and the rest is History…Boris and The Donald were bounced into this by a Financial/Security establishment that routinely manipulates politicians to preserve its long term policy aims beyond the political cycle… Obviously the long term plans that ignited #TheUkraineShitshow tie neatly into this aim of re-establishing NATO authority, and have been long in the making. One thing is for sure.. “cock-up” this is not! ..(it’s pretty much all laid out in the 2010 published WEF _ Rockefeller Foundation_”Scenarios for the future of Technology and International Development” ) ..I blame the Nazis …;)

Very plausible explanation indeed.

It would also explain why the new Health Security Agency was set up in the UK – when it was discovered that actually we didn’t really have a biodefence network.

You might also have mentioned that the EcoHealth Alliance made a proposal for gain of function research to America’s Defence Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in 2018. EcoHealth claim their research is to help prevent pandemics – in which case, why look to the DEFENCE projects agency to fund it?

DARPA rejected the proposal but EcoHealth then went on to obtain funding for this research from Fauci’s National Institutes of Health. At that time such research was illegal in the United States (having been banned under President Obama). And we know that EcoHealth had close links with the lab in Wuhan.

https://www.opindia.com/2022/01/darpa-rejected-ecohealth-alliance-proposal-for-coronavirus-fauci-allowed-it-project-veritas/#:~:text=DARPA%20had%20rejected%20the%20proposal%20saying%20it%20is,USA%20as%20well%20as%20Wuhan%20Institute%20of%20Virology.

There are smoking guns all over the place on this. I’m sure people will end up going to jail over it.

We did have a sensible biodefence network , and sensible pandemic plans, headed up by the Health Protection Agency and Centre for Emergency Preparedness and Response, headquartered at the Civilian side of Porton Down … The HPA was abolished in 2013 following a masterplanning exercise to explore its future configuration called ‘Project Chrysalis’ on account of cost .. The then director died at the outset of #TheGreatCovid19Fraud… The UK Health Security Agency is the HPA’s National Socialist successor … 😉
