Health Secretary Could Change Law to Update Covid Vaccine Compensation Scheme

by Will Jones
13 January 2025 3:58 PM

Health Secretary Wes Streeting is looking at changing the law regarding compensation for people harmed by Covid vaccines amid concern it doesn’t offer enough support. The Telegraph has the story.

Wes Streeting has written to the wife of a man left with permanent brain damage after having the AstraZeneca jab, saying he has “commissioned officials to work up a number of options” to reform the current vaccine damage payment scheme (VDPS).

The letter, sent last month and seen by the Telegraph, adds that this could include “potential legislative changes”.

Families of those who suffered rare reactions to the Covid AstraZeneca vaccination have criticised the VDPS for its limited compensation and high threshold for qualification.

It comes ahead of next week’s sitting of the Covid Inquiry, which will hear evidence from a group representing those injured and bereaved after the vaccinations.

Mr. Streeting revealed the work was being done in a letter following a meeting with Kate Scott, whose husband was left with a permanent brain injury after developing a blood clot and bleed on the brain after having the AstraZeneca jab in April 2021.

Mrs Scott said the VDPS needed “urgent reform” because people were being rejected for not being “disabled enough”.

She added: “There is no other word for this than ludicrous. If your injury equates to just a 10% change, that’s life-changing for you. It might mean you can’t work anymore.

“The Government needs to remember that people took the AstraZeneca vaccine for the greater good and because they were told it was safe and effective. They need to make sure families have proper support”.

Currently, the VDPS only offers a one-off tax-free payment of £120,000 to people who have been severely injured if they reach the level of 60% “disablement” – which is what the current scheme requires.

Data obtained under the Freedom of Information Act show that as of October last year, 183 out of 188 payouts made by the Government under the VDPS went to recipients of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The data also reveal that 391 people injured by Covid vaccines have been denied payments because they did not meet the 60% threshold, even though medical assessors said the harm was linked to the jabs.

Claims for payments under the VDPS scheme are assessed by the General Medical Council – registered doctors with at least five years of experience.

The system they use to determine claims has been described as “archaic” because it is seen as lending itself more easily to quantifying amputations rather than neurological injuries, which can be more complex. It is derived from pre-Second World War industrial injuries and war pension schemes.

Victoria Atkins, the previous Health Secretary, had asked officials to draw up options for reforming the programme, amid a large increase in the number of claims. …

It is understood that the Government is considering setting up a bespoke scheme for those suffering from life-changing conditions as a result of a reaction to the jab, similar to the scheme for victims of the infected blood scandal.

Sir Jeremy Wright, the former Attorney General who is also Mr. and Mrs Scott’s MP, also called on the Government to reform the scheme, saying there was a “moral case” to ensure families had sufficient support.

Sir Jeremy, who has attended meetings with the Health Secretary about the issue, said: “We would be brave to claim that this is the last time the Government is going to ask for mass vaccination to take place. If they want people to carry on coming forward for vaccination – and I am sure they do – then it’s important to make it clear that if you are in the tiny unlucky minority where you are injured by a vaccine, then you will be looked after.

“That’s particularly the case when the Government has put so much into persuading people to have the Covid vaccine, along with the scale of the vaccination programme.”

If you think your thoughts online they’re coming for you. Thoughts must be government-approved at all times;

“Rioters”?

Oh you mean – according to at least one judge – people who happened to be unlucky enough to be passing by and stopped either to watch or because their path was blocked.

Does it not say a great deal about your government, law enforcement and judiciary that they’d rather have actual legit, dangerous criminals on the streets and people exercising their right to freedom of speech and to protest banged up in prison? Doesn’t this just give you all the reassurance you need that any ‘asylum seeker’ entering the country will be fully vetted before being placed in your local community or your kid’s school? This is brought to you by the same people who think men can have periods and women can have penises, and if you refute that online they’ll be knocking on your door because ”hate speech”.
I read this girl’s account firsthand but this is the nuts and bolts of it. She didn’t get arrested but was warned by the police who visited her ( and didn’t even tell her why they were there ) to bite her tongue before posting anything online. They also seemed to take exception to her dad’s Samurai sword collection and replica Roman helmet;

”BREAKING!!!! 19 year old woman visited by anti terrorist unit and Mersey Police
yesterday. They asked her about her politics, if she is right wing, and why she had an ‘Anglo Saxon’ replica helmet in the house. They refused to say what she was accused of…

They confiscated property… (a replica decorative sword hanging on her parents wall) and advised her:

“Bite your tongue before talking on line.”

The young woman in question has never been in any trouble before. She has no idea what she has done, and the police are refusing to tell her.

This is Starmer’s Britain. You don’t need to be guilty of anything beyond holding the wrong opinion.”

These intimidation tactics, apart from their obviously coercive intent, have a whiff of panic about them. Of course, the fundamental programme of our anti-white government is The Great Replacement, but this is a programme that the Anti-White Party (formerly the Labour Party) cannot openly admit. Therefore, when they see us (the “trash people” in Marxist thinking) opposing the consequences of The Great Replacement, they over-react. What the anti-whitists don’t understand is that this over-reaction will strengthen the opposition to The Great Replacement, and help that opposition to spread.

Dangerous criminals are not the Political Opponents of Government though. This is why they can release them and instead lock up people who question or expose government policy as a diabolical disgrace.

Shocking that the three “vibrant” criminals who kidnapped a Turkish Cypriot man and woman in North London, held them prisoner for 2 days, tortured and murdered the man, were given only 5,6, and 7-year sentences, respectively.

Meanwhile, the English painter who set fire to that wheelie bin has just been given 9 years in prison, while the “vibrants” who set fire to a bus in Harehills were given suspended sentences, and the Manchester airlport Pakistani Muslims who attacked police have still not even been charged?

I may be mistaken, but when I saw the videos of that burning wheelie bin up against the high, thick concrete wall of the hotel, I thought concrete doesn’t burn, so that was no real attempt at setting fire to the building, which they could easily have done once they were inside. They did not.

And no immigrant was actually harmed by any of the “Far Right Riots”, unlike the Britons attacked by Muslim Machete Gangs, who were later told by police to stash their weapons in the mosque.

Only the police and Britons were physically injured in any of the protests, often very seriously injured, while not a single hair on a Muslim’s head was harmed, nor any of the “vibrants” in the hotel, nor any of the Marxist counter-protesters, one of whom even slapped the face of a Briton just standing there with his fellow “Far Right Protesters”, but he was hauled away by police instead of the Marxist woman who slapped him, and the Marxist crowd cheered.

Painter handed longest sentence over summer riots so far as he is jailed for nine years (msn.com)

One commenter said:

“Thomas is a pretty rubbish arsonist isn’t he? Broad daylight, no mask, cameras everywhere, didn’t even smash a side window to pour in the petrol/diesel mix. 9 years that could be cut to 3 on appeal, on the grounds that he’s a political prisoner?  Why can’t Starmer desist from this idiotic right wing yobbo purge, listen to the reasons behind it and stop ‘putting out fire with gasoline’ -to coin a well known phrase.”

Why can’t Starmer … listen to the reasons behind it … ?

Because he wants to shut us up long enough for The Great Replacement to become irreversible?

It won’t happen.

Shipping people to a distant country where visits by friends and family will be incredibly costly and difficult will breach numerous aspects of their human rights.

It is a gimmick by the Labour government.

They have the front to claim Rwanda was a gimmick by the Conservative government.

And then they pull this stunt.

Just imagine all the family members who can claim their human rights are infringed by making it incredibly difficult if not impossible for them to visit their loved ones banged up in Estonia.

And why are the prisons in Estonia so empty?

The EU has been a disaster for the Baltic states.

There are few young people left as huge numbers migrated to get work to other parts of the EU.

And older people tend to be less criminally inclined.

In other words, they have exported their criminals along with the law abiding young.
