Westminster is the Mother of Parliaments, but are today’s MPs up to snuff? Why is Starmer so robotic? Why are his backbenchers so toady? And, with a weighty issue like assisted suicide, does Kim Leadbeater really know what she’s on about? The Sceptic’s Laurie Wastell discusses all this and more with Madeline Grant, Parliamentary Sketchwriter at the Telegraph.
This is an interview from episode 22 of the Sceptic. You can find the full episode here.

The political gene pool has been depleted by several factors.
* the EU governance of us meant they did not think and were allowed no leeway.
* quangos have taken decision making and rule making away from elected representatives
* lobbyists provide policies and arguments to suit their principals do MPs can lazily parrot them.
* candidate selection post Cameron-Clegg and Blair has prioritised gender, ethnicity, faith to the elite policies over ability and enquiring minds.
