Why I Would Have Voted For Trump

by Toby Young
6 November 2024 10:33 PM

A lot of ink has already been spilt about Donald Trump’s landslide victory, so I won’t detain you very long. I also won’t bore you by trotting out all the obvious reasons to celebrate: he’s anti-woke, pro-free speech, wants to cut taxes, supports Israel, thinks Net Zero is bunkum and will stand up to China. True, he’s not as hawkish as I’d like on Ukraine and has protectionist tendencies. But you can’t have everything.

As for the hysterical claim that he’s a ‘fascist’, I’m with John Tierney, who wrote a good piece for City Journal a few days ago pointing out that the Biden-Harris administration has engaged in far more authoritarian behaviour than Trump did in 2016-20, prosecuting political opponents, strong-arming social media platforms to silence critics (under the guise of combatting mis- and disinformation) and imposing the greatest restrictions on liberty in America’s history (during the pandemic).

Some people in the Westminster bubble think Trump’s victory is bad news for Britain because he’ll impose tariffs on British imports, but I think that’s unlikely and, in any event, Kamala Harris, like her boss, is no friend of Britain’s. As Pimlico Journal pointed out:

[T]here is little sign that Kamala Harris would be much warmer to Britain. The more fundamental problem is that the Democratic Party, having desecrated much of what remains of ‘WASP’ America, are now turning to attacking Britain itself. Many politically moderate Britons, whether on the centre-left or the centre-right, were taken aback by the apparent hostility of the New York Times to the monarchy – and Britain more generally – after the death of Elizabeth II. They should get used to it, because there is no doubt that, for the Democratic Party, Britain is a symbol of the old, racist, imperialist America, without rather than within. I’m sure you’ve seen the anti-Britain (and often also anti-France) memes on X. These don’t come from nowhere: they are, by now, symbols of something that Britain will not be able to escape in its relations with any Democratic administration. Actual national self-interest on the part of the Americans will increasingly be ignored, as Britain has become part of the broader American culture war. For this reason alone, no intelligent Briton should ever support the Democrats, no matter how boorish they think Donald Trump is.

But to my mind, the biggest reason to celebrate is that Trump wants to take on America’s vast federal bureaucracy – what he calls ‘the Deep State’ and which we call ‘the Blob’. During the campaign, he distanced himself from Project 25, the Heritage Foundation’s blueprint for wresting control of the administrative state, but J.D. Vance has said he thinks Trump should make it a priority to replace 5,000 civil servants with MAGA loyalists and Trump intends to hire Elon Musk as his ‘efficiency tsar’, tasking him with ruthlessly cutting waste in government agencies in much the same way he fired 80% of Twitter’s workforce without damaging the product.

There’s a good economic argument for doing this since it’s these bureaucrats who are stifling innovation and putting insurmountable obstacles in the path of new businesses. The regulators, as is well documented, are captured by the sectors they’re supposed to be regulating, helping giant corporations preserve their monopolies and who are often rewarded with well-paying jobs by those same corporations when they leave office.

But the best argument for dismantling the Blob is that it has become the main instrument for enforcing woke ideology. The federal bureaucracy is marinated in equity, diversity and inclusion, climate alarmism, LGBTQ+ rights, Critical Race Theory, Gender Identity Theory… all the sacred cows of radical progressive ideology. These civil servants, along with their allies in the academy and the media, are responsible for imposing what is, in effect, a new public morality on American society – a belief system that a majority of Americans have little sympathy for, as the election results made clear. It’s this ideology that’s responsible for the erosion of their freedoms in every aspect of their lives, whether it’s workplace speech codes or restrictions on their use of fossil fuels. Trump rightly understands that if you want to vanquish these torquemadas it’s not enough to defeat your political enemies at the ballot box; you need to defeat the vast army of unelected officials as well. This is the real battle.

If he succeeds – and it’s a big if – he will be an inspiration for rebel leaders all over the world, including the United Kingdom.

Stopping the imposition of this new secular religion by stealth is the most important political battle of our time.

In Trump, we may have found our General Patton.

Fantastic article… but utterly unconscionable behaviour.
People are avoiding these ‘therapies’ on a large scale, so one can only assume this is only about money.
And if it’s not, let them have a full and frank debate, with all the up to date evidence and REAL informed consent.

This has reached a new level of twisted now. What I would like to know is whether this type of aggressive, false, and immature marketing stunt has any impact on vaccine uptake in children? Are people still so uninformed that they’ll take Peppa Pig’s word for it if she tells parents their children will benefit?

To any rational mind, surely such events would give pause for thought as to the real motivations behind “vaccine” campaigns?

If these jabs were provably beneficial, the sober evidence would be there, freely available with links to the relevant peer-reviewed studies that demonstrated unequivocally that the benefits outweigh the risks for all age groups. But it isn’t, so they need to bring in Peppa Pig to blag about it and brainwash young minds, and appeal to the “Superhero” aspirations of children so they can experimentally alter their genes.

It breaches laws, medical ethics, and the basic morals common to all humanity!

Ultimately Fishy and the rest of his government are responsible for this. They know damn well that a phone call to the appropriate earhole could stop this immediately but they have done nothing. Guilty.

A more aggressive response would be to list all the doctors and nurses working at this Practice along with their mugshots. Let’s see the cowardly response to that.

Name and shame.

huxley, re “…list all the doctors and nurses working at this Practice along with their mugshots…”
The question is – how are these doctors and nurses obtaining informed consent for administering this vaccine product?
What information are they giving to parents to justify their children being subjected to this medical intervention?
See my previous comments which indicate children don’t need this medical interference.
What on earth is going on in the medical ‘profession’ that these people are being recruited to foist upon the population unnecessary medical interventions?
This is a scandal of ginormous proportions which is coming to a head now with the Covid and flu vaccination scams.
How do we obtain accountability, particularly against rogue governments which are operating as handmaidens to the pharmaceutical industry, along with the medical profession?

The notorious Anthony Fauci co-authored an article published in January this year, admitting: “As of 2022, after more than 60 years of experience with influenza vaccines, very little improvement in vaccine prevention of infection has been noted. As pointed out decades ago, and still true today, the rates of effectiveness of our best approved influenza vaccines would be inadequate for licensure for most other vaccine-preventable diseases.” (My emphasis.)
So how are these flu vaccine products still being approved today?!?!
It’s mind-boggling how people have been exploited for years with rubbish flu vaccine products – how much has this racket cost taxpayers I wonder? How much damage to health is being done with these repeated medical interventions that are of little or no benefit re flu?
It seems to me this is out and out fraud…
And consider how children are the target for this scam, apparently tying them into the flu vaccine market for life, with vaccine products they don’t need.
This was admitted during a Lords committee meeting in the UK in June 2020, by Peter Openshaw from Imperial College London (also home of the notorious ‘modeller’ Neil Ferguson).
Peter Openshaw was present at the meeting as one of the members of the UK’s Sage scientific advisory group Nervtag, advising on the Covid-19 response. According to a report in the Guardian, Openshaw was advising the Lords committee that “A vaccine against Covid-19 may not work well in older people who are most at risk of becoming seriously ill and dying from the disease…which may mean immunising others around them, such as children.” (My emphasis.)
Openshaw said: “Sometimes it is possible to protect a vulnerable group by targeting another group and this, for example, is being done with influenza. In the past few years the UK has been at the forefront of rolling out the live attenuated vaccine for children.” (My emphasis.)
According to the Guardian, Openshaw said “giving the nasal spray flu vaccine to children who do not often get severe flu protects their grandparents”. (My emphasis.) Openshaw was using this example to justify giving Covid-19 vaccine products to children and health and care workers, to “also help protect older people who have the most contact with them”.
What do you think about this? About children and others such as health and care workers being given flu and covid vaccines to protect the elderly? That is, adults and children who aren’t at serious risk of either flu or ‘Covid’ being pressed to sacrifice their own naturally effective immune response, and being vaccinated, repeatedly, to purportedly protect elderly people – is this ethical?
How do we effectively take this on, challenge unnecessary vaccinations being pressed upon people who do not need this medical interference?
How is informed consent being obtained for this racket?

Further to my comment above, I was so shocked after reading the report in the Guardian I referred to, I raised this matter in August 2020, in a BMJ (aka The British Medical Journal) rapid response, please see:

Is it ethical to vaccinate children to protect the elderly?

Dear Editor

In his rapid response, Dr Anand says “Are drugs, including vaccines and blood products, monitored conscientiously by the good doctors? I believe not.”[1]

I also have my doubts in regards to doctors conscientiously monitoring the growing number of vaccine products being pressed upon the community.

There are many vaccine products on the burgeoning vaccination schedule for children, including annual flu vaccination, and now fast-tracked coronavirus vaccination is looming.

Do any doctors wonder about the extraordinary number of vaccinations and revaccinations given to children nowadays? We have no idea of the long-term cumulative effects of this ever-increasing vaccine load.

I was astonished recently to read in The Guardian that children in the UK are given the nasal spray flu vaccine to protect their grandparents, even though children do not often get severe flu.[2]

This was acknowledged by Professor Peter Openshaw, from Imperial College London, one of the members of the UK’s Sage scientific advisory sub-group Nervtag, during a House of Lords science and technology committee meeting in June to discuss COVID-19 vaccine development.

And now there are plans afoot to vaccinate children against SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 to protect the elderly.

According to The Guardian article “A vaccine against Covid-19 may not work well in older people who are most at risk of becoming seriously ill and dying from the disease…” and this “may mean immunising others around them, such as children”.

It’s been reported that most paediatric cases with laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection are mild and severe COVID-19 disease in children is rare. (See comment published in The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health[3])

How can it be ethical to vaccinate mass populations of children against SARS-CoV-2 to protect the elderly if most SARS-CoV-2 infections in children are mild, and severe COVID-19 disease in children is rare?

How can it be ethical to vaccinate mass populations of children against flu if children do not often get severe flu?

Vaccinations are medical interventions which have risks. It seems to me unethical to vaccinate someone against a disease which is not a significant threat to them to protect others, e.g. the elderly. This is a particularly serious matter to consider in countries which have coercive vaccination policies, e.g. Australia and the United States.

And now Reuters reports “AstraZeneca has been granted protection from future product liability claims related to its COVID-19 vaccine hopeful by most of the countries with which it has struck supply agreements…”

According to Reuters, Ruud Dobber, a member of Astra’s senior executive team, said “This is a unique situation where we as a company simply cannot take the risk if in…four years the vaccine is showing side effects”.[4]

So AstraZeneca has been granted protection from future product liability, and children around the world will be left with the risk of side effects in order to supposedly protect the elderly.

In my opinion this is not ethical.

What do doctors think about this, about vaccinating children with flu vaccines and future coronavirus vaccines to supposedly protect the elderly?

This is not to negate the risks of flu and SARS-CoV-2 for the elderly, but efforts should be concentrated on finding medications to help them directly, children’s right to their own natural defences should not be sacrificed in this regard.

Can Fiona Godlee and Rapid Recommendations editors please urgently consider this matter?

Again, what do people think about this?
Is it ethical to vaccinate people who aren’t at serious risk of disease to purportedly protect another group – e.g. vaccinating children to purportedly protect the elderly against flu or covid?
We have to demand accountability for this gross exploitation of people, including children, with unnecessary medical interventions such as vaccines.

Further to my comments please have a look at the email I sent to Peter Openshaw and Arne Akbar in September last year – Is it ethical to vaccinate the young to purportedly protect the old?
We have to address this now – they are brazenly jabbing children to purportedly protect old people – this is unethical!

See also this article re flu vaccination of children in France – they’re coordinating a campaign to exploit children with these products, this must be challenged now.

Why Vaccinate Healthy 2- to 17-Year-Olds Against Influenza? Medscape, 17 October 2023

FRANCE — On February 2, 2023, the French National Authority for Health (HAS) recommended extending flu shots to children aged 2-17 years without comorbidities.

For the first time this year, French healthcare professionals, like their counterparts in the United Kingdom and Spain (see box), are therefore being invited to offer this vaccination to all children.

The reasons are many. This approach seeks to reduce severe forms of disease in this population. It also aims to limit the spread of the virus within the general population and ease the burden of flu on the country’s hospital systems.

Following the expansion of these recommendations, the target population for flu vaccination went from 16 million to 28 million people (ie, 40% of the general population of France). But the manufacturers are not fazed, reassuring public health planners that there will be enough vaccines to go round this year.

Ha! I bet the manufacturers aren’t ‘fazed’ at all! Rather rubbing their hands with glee at children being roped into this racket…
How is this happening, this gross exploitation? How can the medical profession be going along with this? Have they no idea at all of their legal and ethical obligation to obtain informed consent for vaccination?!

Its not just children [NB. MPs are crap – they are the ones letting this go on day-after-day year-after-year and say and do nothing – total corruption at every turn – with honourable exceptions like Bridgen and Chope – and dishonourable ones IMHO like Penny Mordant].

This official misinformation [lies IMHO] specifically about ‘flu and covid injections is from an email sent recently to all 65s and over [see also post in these comments by Elizabeth Hart]:

Crazy, evil world.

TPTB and their ‘followers’ are happy to manipulate children, by lying, to get highly questionable substances into their bodies…but children and younger persons must not be subjected to the perils of ‘betting / gambling’ involving well-known characters who may influence them.

Gambling with their health and life with ‘health’ products is ok, then?
