Has the United Nations Wrecked London?

by Charlotte Gill
16 October 2024 7:00 AM

Over the weekend you may have spotted a Telegraph piece by Andrew Roberts, the historian, about how global institutions have mutated from their original purpose – to “try to ensure that the legacy of [the Second World War] would be peace, justice and decency” – into something more sinister.

He included the United Nations in his assessment, warning that: “For decades, the post-war institutions were strong enough to resist the battering that came from totalitarian powers from the outside, but in recent years a far more insidious danger has corrupted and wrecked many of them: the threat from within, posed by woke and Leftist ideology and hugely aided by a lack of self-belief in the institutions themselves.”

Excellent article that really exposes how far Climate Change has become like an invasive species. It has become so entrenched everywhere, that now the only people opposing it on media or in in Politics are sent to the back of the class or out of the class altogether to stand in the corridor.
—-Climate Change is a doctrine, and it matters not to those involved that the facts simply don’t fit the theory. They never seek to question or investigate any of it because it has become the ultimate truth of an entire generation subjected to it in their workplace or on their TV News. If it is pointed out to people that storms, floods, droughts and wildfires are not increasing in frequency or intensity the person pointing this out is treated as some kind of subversive. They are labelled as a “denier” or a “flat earther” and they are forever after treated with nothing but suspicion. We now have a whole generation of people clamouring for their own impoverishment and accepting having reliable affordable energy removed and replaced by unreliable unaffordable energy, and because they are oblivious to how energy actually works, they think everything will tick along just as before. —-NOPE, it WILL NOT, and just yesterday I had a leaflet through my door called “Preparing for a Power Cut”. ——Because Government and energy companies know that you cannot power Industrial Society on wind and sun, but they are determined to fob us off with wind and sun for Political Purposes —–Sustainable Development and Net Zero

Excellent points except that climate change is not a theory, it is a hypothesis.

Surely climate change IS happening, and is a fact, not a hypothesis or a theory!
But so what! Hasn’t climate always changed? What isn’t happening is that mankind [sorry, personkind – sorry to trigger] is not negatively affected by it.
Au contraire – 20° here in Norfolk yesterday – bloody lovely! More please!

Meanwhile the vast majority of us ignore Khan and his collection of Village People and get on with our lives in our ICE cars, boiler heated houses, collecting air miles as we go.

”London is a safe city…”, said nobody who’s in touch with reality, ever. Not sure how many people being robbed of their phones or watches as they just walk down the street would agree with this silly woman either;

”The crime rate in London was 105.8 crime offences per thousand people for the 2023/24 reporting year, compared with 100.9 in the previous year. Between 2015/16 and 2019/20 the crime rate in the UK capital increased in every reporting year, with the sudden drop seen in 2019/20 due to the COVID-19 pandemic causing a sharp reduction in certain types of crime such as robbery and theft.
In recent years the city of London has frequently been in the headlines of the British press due to a noticeable surge in crime, with police recorded crime figures reaching 938,020 offences in 2023/24, compared with 743,728 in 2015/16. Much of this increase has been driven by a surge in violent crime, with the number of violent crime offences in London rising to 252,545 offences in 2023/24. Additionally, there has been a steady rise in the number of knife crimes which peaked at 15,928 offences in 2019/20, and was at a post-pandemic high of 15,016 offences in 2023/24.”

Both from yesterday;

‘This morning, a man in his 40s was shot dead in Tottenham, North London. The shooting took place at around 9 a.m. on Waltheof Gardens. Emergency services responded quickly, but despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. A murder investigation has been launched, and police are currently searching for the suspect. No arrests have been made yet. The shooting happened in broad daylight, causing significant shock among residents in the area.

Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, has faced increasing criticism over his handling of crime and public safety. Despite introducing initiatives like additional police officers and his “Violence Reduction Unit,” London continues to grapple with high rates of violent crime, including stabbings and shootings. Critics argue that his focus on issues like climate change and the ULEZ expansion has detracted from urgent security concerns. Many residents and political opponents accuse Khan of not doing enough to tackle the root causes of crime or to ensure the safety of Londoners.”

Silly Liberals always want to socially engineer all crime away. They think punishment and discipline are dirty words. I would like to remind those twerps that would dish out soft sentences or no sentences at all that when New York City was riddled with crime that a 3 strikes and you are out policy was introduced and crime plummeted as a result—–mamby pamby social justice is not working and will never work except to keep the cost of imprisoning people down. I don’t think it ever occurs to Liberals that we actually have so many people in prison because it is a “cinch”

I’m not sure how far back you’d have to go to remember when London was inhabited by civilized people. Are people just becoming desensitized to it all now though? ”Oh just another stabbing/shooting/rape/mugging/street fight. They’re as regular as the buses now and hardly worth reporting on the news” Part and parcel of city living, seemingly;

”You are supposed to get used to this.

Because in @SadiqKhan
’s London

Diversity is our greatest strength.

Even though it’s absolutely not.

We should defend British culture whilst we can still remember what it is.

Because it isn’t this.”

”London is a safe city, but too many women feel unsafe when travelling, working or going out at night.”

This entire sentence is stupid because it’s contradictory. If London were safe ( which it’s not, and we have the data to back that up, and this isn’t just regarding women being victims of crime, obviously ) then women wouldn’t feel unsafe, would they? Unless the person making this statement is inferring that the feeling of being unsafe is just paranoia and all in the women’s heads. They’re imagining it as the crime stats don’t bare this out, in which case this is gaslighting. Crime is worsening under Sadiq Khan’s watch and this is an undeniable fact, as the figures illustrate. Maybe the definition of ”safe” has been changed when I wasn’t looking…

If London were safe […] then women wouldn’t feel unsafe, would they?

If Sars-CoV2 wasn’t a novel and extremely lethal pathogen, people wouldn’t be so afraid of it, would they?

I’m not making any claim about the safety of London for people of any sex, just pointing out that this argument is invalid. Especially considering that the statement was many women feel unsafe which is semantically the same as most women feel safe. I also doubt that, for instance, the area bombing of Tube trains with ads warning about sex crimes has caused women to feel safer on the tube despite it certainly didn’t cause more of these event to occur.

“London is a safe city, but too many women feel unsafe when travelling, working or going out at night.”

What this really means is that London is reasonably safe if you are locked inside your own home but leave the home to travel through London and it feels unsafe but that’s because it is unsafe

I don’t assume for a minute that anybody, irrespective of sex, that lives and/or works in London is unaware of the crime levels, if not the actual crime stats. I think if you live in that environment, which goes for any crime-ridden major city, you’re going to be more aware than the likes of us outsiders of what really goes on ( much of which isn’t widely reported ) and what society’s like firsthand. I’ll bet many residents of London know somebody who’s been a victim of crime, and word spreads, which just adds to how safe somebody feels within their own community.We could also sub the word ”women” for ”Jews”, of course.

They’re all just a bunch of power hungry grifters.

The problem is that they’ve become very good at it. They set up or take over organisations to institutionalise their grift, which I wouldn’t mind so much except they insist accumulating power as well and then wielding it against us.

It would be hard for me to express just how I despise all these people.

We complain and are outraged, but none of us do anything about it, we still pay council tax, some second home owners are being charged 200% more, even though they aren’t there to use the “services”, btw I am not one, I just think its extortion. We all fill out our tax returns like good girls and boys and handover most of our money to these people so they can blow it on their careers through virtue signalling. As long as we play along they will continue with the abuse. If ten thousand just said no we aren’t paying then perhaps it would stop, they cannot jail everyone. I accept I must pay for services, but when I actually don’t receive value for money, when the roads are falling apart, when basic medical provision is rationed, when schools are indoctrination centres, when money is spaffed on migrants who are given better care than us and our own children, when politicians fly all over the world to be part of an elite club, when Ed Milliband shuts down our industries our power stations our ability to use fossil fuels in order to play God, when children are mutilated on the NHS and on our money, when we are paying charities to censor us. I could go on, these are abuses of our money, these things do nothing to provide a decent living condition and prosperity for the tax payer. But as long as we pay they will continue to take the piss, and use the threat of imprisonment if we don’t pay.

The climate emergency was invented by a council of scientic advisors to US president Lyndon B. Johnson and is thus considerably older than a large part of today’s “old white men” (generally, anyone over 40) and it wasn’t “put on the agenda by young people” but by the people who had these young people at their mercy in schools and universities.

Youth climate leaders, BTW, sounds awfully like Klaus Schwab’s Young Global Leaders. Surely a coincidence.

It would be a good idea to stop trying to live in Ayn Rand’s not-so-covertly sexual phantasies about tall, violent men forcing nature, explicitly including female nature, under their heel and always succeeding with that. In reality, tall and violent men are usually pretty stupid because they never had to come up with more intelligent solution to any problem than shouting and hitting something and those who go it alone against all odds usually vanish without much of a trace as nature is always taller and more violent. The reason why people spend such an enormous amount of time talking to other people is because communication, that’s is coordination and cooperation with others, is absolutely vital to our survival as a species.

This is especially true for something as transparently communist (judging from the Wikipedia summary — Rand’s style is completely inpalatable to me) as Atlas Shrugged. On one side, you have the established rulers who own and control the means of production, ie, the capitalists, who are obvious stupid, evil and incompentent. And on the other side, led by John Galt, there are the actual wealth creators, ie, the factory workers, who unionize and go on strike and then victory falls into their lap because history wills it. Outcome: They build Marx’s communist utopia together, the anarchic society free of the repression state created by those they successfully overcame.

Marx would have loved this kind of fairly tale even though he might have disapproved to America! window dressing Rand added to it.

Hold on, wasn’t the world’s most environmentally conscious mayor in New York a few weeks ago learning about cleaning up the river and how that could help the Thames? Now he’s back talking about C40. He seems to spend more time in New York than in our capital.

What is Khan supposed to be doing in London. 1) Transport for London. 2) Policing. 3) Is he responsible for housing? Anything else? After a few months doing just that he has obviously got very bored and wants to much more exciting stuff – especially if it hurts people, motorists, children, businesses etc.

The Nu-Left is all about hurting people, destroying European Civilisation, chopping up children etc… so he signed up to the C40 cities agenda and the evil alphabet people’s agenda, the migrant agenda and I guess there will be yet another infernal COPxx meeting at the end of next month which he will want to go to?

These parasitic grifters and fake climate causes are all funded with mostly your tax money. This cult like blob have learned how to game the system and earn a big salary while not having to work a real job like most people. The sad thing is you and I are actually working real jobs to pay this blob to destroy our lives.
