A new survey by Techne puts Sir Keir Starmer’s party below 30 points, little more than three months since his landslide victory.
A separate poll by YouGov shows that almost four-in-10 voters (39%) believe the country has got worse in the past 100 days. Just 9% say it has got better – and not even a quarter of those who voted Labour in July have seen an improvement.
It comes after a major row over the decision to cut winter fuel payment handouts for hundreds of thousands of pensioners.
There are also fears of a major round of tax rises in the Budget at the end of the month, despite taxes having risen to a record postwar high under the last Tory Government.
Nearly half (47%) of those who voted Labour in the election told YouGov they had positive expectations of Starmer’s Government but feel let down so far, with only three in ten (30%) feeling Labour has done as well as they had hoped.
