How Pokémon Got Enlisted in the Israel-Gaza Conflict

The theory that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery is about to be formally tested in a Japanese court of law. The big news for gaming fans of late is that the Kyoto-based video-gaming giant Nintendo has just instituted legal proceedings against the far smaller rival publisher Pocketpair over the content of its hit recent title Palworld, often described as being “Pokémon with guns”. As Nintendo own exclusive rights to the Pokémon series, Pocketpair’s bright idea of handing over Kalashnikovs and Mausers to Clefairy and Psyduck was unsurprisingly deemed by Nintendo’s lawyers to breach the firm’s intellectual copyright.

Yet this is far from the weirdest such lawsuit Nintendo has ever been involved in. If you don’t know, the incredibly popular games in question involve players wandering a cartoon world and capturing cute little animal-like creatures called Pokémon inside magical balls, before tooling them up to fight one another in battles against competing Pokémon trainers. It is now 25 years since the original Japanese GameBoy titles in the series were released in America, an occasion celebrated earlier this year by the ‘Pocket Monsters’ making the front cover of Time magazine, the excuse being that, so popular are the critters, they are now the highest-earning global media franchise ever, raising $100 billion in revenue up to 2021.

Question: Just how deranged does one have to be to support mass-murdering, death-worshipping terrorists who would murder you and your family in the blink of an eye?

But is there any other Islam?
Genuine question.
Is there a soft, forgiving, tolerant version?
If so, where?
How do they interpret certain verses in the Quran that call for the subjugation or killing of infidels?

Leviticus 24:16

16 And he that blasphemeth the name of the Lord, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the Lord, shall be put to death.

Sure, I am familiar with the Old Testament.

I suspect godknowsimgood’s point is that all sorts is written, in all sorts of books, but we should rather judge individual people by their actions above everything.

I have travelled to Tunisia, Egypt and Turkey, and only experienced kindness. Better not to drink the tap water, though …

Well, it was written by Kamala Harris. And that is what she does to us all.

How do I know she wrote it?

Here is one of her trademark points right in the middle of it:

“it is within this topic’s very unimportance that its true importance really lies“.

True Kamala at her best.

Here is ridiculous meaningless nonsense she is famous for:

“‘What can be, unburdened by what has been”.

Which also means Kamala is unburdened by any knowledge of history so will make the same mistakes all over again.

And another example:

“The governor and I … were ….. talking about the significance of the passage of time. Right? The significance of the passage of time,” Ms Harris said.

“So, when you think about it, there is great significance to the passage of time in terms of what we need to do to lay these wires, what we need to do to create these jobs,” she told an audience in a speech about expanding broadband coverage.

“And there is such great significance to the passage of time when we think about a day in the life of our children and what that means to the future of our nation,” said Ms Harris, “depending on whether or not they have the resources they need to achieve their God-given talent.”
