With leading U.S. brands and universities scrapping their DEI policies, it seems Britain might soon join the exodus and wave goodbye to this dreadful fad, writes Micael Deacon in the Telegraph. Here’s an excerpt:
Trendy Left-wing opinions may be tiresome. But they do have one upside. Which is that, like all else in fashion, they’re sure to go out of style. One moment, some insufferable progressive notion is all the rage; the next, it’s shoved in the back of the wardrobe, never to see daylight again.
And the good news is, this appears to be what’s happening to DEI.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is a radical progressive ideology that, in recent years, has held countless Western institutions in its miserable grip. This week, however, there have been multiple signs that, all of a sudden, the grip is finally loosening.
Harley-Davidson has just ditched its diversity targets. Jack Daniel’s, too. The University of Kentucky has said it’s disbanding its diversity office. Meanwhile, meritocracy has been restored to the admissions process at elite U.S. universities. New figures show that, since race-based “affirmative action” was banned by the Supreme Court, the proportion of Asian American students at Massachusetts Institute of Technology has shot up, while that of African American students has slumped. (This is the trouble with “affirmative action”: while benefiting one minority, it can unwittingly penalise another.)
Of course, all these examples are from the U.S. But since, these days, British elites slavishly follow all the latest American trends, DEI must be doomed over here, too.
The most pernicious element of DEI is surely “equity”: the idea that inequality of outcomes between groups can only be explained by injustice. Is this true? It’s just that, in the men’s 100m Olympic final, not one runner was white. Presumably this means white runners are victims of injustice, and should have been included in the final via affirmative action.
Still, now DEI is dying, I suppose they’ll just have to run faster, instead.

DEI was only ever about anti-white racism.
As if we need more proof this multiculturalism lark is a complete disaster. I hope this guy is okay, I think he had a kid in that buggy. These psychos treat it like sport or the latest Tik Tok trend though;
”Man walking down the street with his child in a pushchair is, seemingly, randomly attacked and stabbed in the neck.
He collapses a little down the road. Not sure what the outcome was.
Does anyone have more information.
Absolutely shocking!!”

Apparently – but who knows – it was not a child in the buggy, but some of his belongings
Yes I read that later. Actually, at first I thought that but then I thought he looked a bit clean and tidy to be homeless. He’s apparently recovering in hospital now anyway. No idea if the psycho that attacked him was arrested.
”What difference does that make and why is it relevant?
A man was gratuitously stabbed in his neck. It matters little what was in his buggy.”

Sadly not true except perhaps it might take hold in the private sector in varying degrees.
A lot of this comes about from Whitehall – infected by wokery.
And it has compliance with protected characteristics in the Equality Act as its backdrop, ignoring of course whether discrimination on the basis of sex includes gender identity.
The public sector accounts for nearly half the UK economy. It has a monopoly in each area so it is not subject to customer loss of demand like the private sector. DEI has a stranglehold so it will take much longer to wither on the vine unfortunately.
It doesn’t explain why the extraordinarily powerful New York investment banks and corporations fully embraced this evil doctrine.
Robbie Starbucks next target after Harley was Jack Daniels. They got wind of this and got rid of their DEI policies.
The Harley boycott may continue as so many want to be rid of their German CEO who admires the Taliban.
It’s delusional to think this will go away any time soon. Certain firms may push back because their target market doesn’t like it, or because they have a boss with some balls, but there won’t be many.
What’s that again about claiming ‘victimhood’? Not sure DEI is dying in Australia going by the outcome of this travesty of justice. Seriously, get the violins out and cry harder!
”Trans man rages against women after winning court case against female only app, after the judge ruled he was ‘discriminated’ against after being banned.
Roxanne Tickle has claimed he is a victim saying the case has “stolen the last 3 years of my life.”

But did “Female Only” not mean it discriminated against everyone who wasn’t a woman, including men? ———–If you know what i mean. eg wasn’t there a private club that was “men only” that succumbed to allowing women as members?
The only people who could construe “female only” as discriminatory are woke whingebags and narcissistic fantasists who don’t respect boundaries, like the bloke above, and can’t cope with the fact people of both sexes are entitled to make certain establishments, whether physical or online, single sex only.
I think you’re referring to that poncy Garrick joint in London. If so there were men, including Stephen Fry and Sting, if memory serves, who voted in favour of changing the rules after decades of it being men only.
As ever, the reality is that woketards, like globalists, come in both female and male flavours. What’s between your legs appears to have no bearing on what goes on between your ears when it comes to this particular mind virus. This is why I’m doubtful this DEI tripe is far from dead. It serves a purpose for the aforementioned.
Personally, I have a “if it ain’t broke why fix it?” outlook on life.
Yep—–And if there was a female only club down the road I would have no problem with that. I would not be in the least bit concerned that women wanted some little club to do women things together, but you see the social equity people always have to stick their noses into everything and equalise every single thing. There must always be the discriminators and the discriminated, the oppressors and the oppressed. Otherwise what would the busybodies do with themselves all day?
Yes it really riles me, people sticking their stupid oars in just because they can. It’s like change for the sake of change. It often doesn’t improve things at all, in fact I’d say it leads to more division due to resentment. It’s like a spoilt and entitled brat saying ”I want what they’ve got”, when they’ve got an almost identical thing just down the road. I think it was ‘sskinner’ who provided a laundry list of ‘women only’ establishments, so they certainly do exist. But as I say, men as well as women were onboard with this change, perhaps feeling they need to ‘move with the woke times’, which is a depressing sign of the times and many people’s mentality, if you ask me. If only these same people put this amount of energy into enacting change for things that actually matter, but that’s the Woketards for you.
I hate all of that frivolous fashion—–Except the mini skirt ofcourse. Who knows it might even become the latest fashion in Afghanistan by the year 2372
Like it was in 1970?
Those were certainly the days Roy, or are we just misogynists?
Does your wife know you’re sharing your stash with a bunch of strangers online?🤭
I have a stash for all occasions. This particular image was entirely appropriate. I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to those who still cannot tell what a woman is in the 21st century —wink
I think I need more pictures to study to be sure.
Got any?
Heh, heh.
Believe it when I truly see it.
The products of the firms mentioned are potentially strange bedfellows!
“…while that of African American students has slumped.”
And the reason for this slump maybe because African Americans have been the main recipients anti-meritocratic teaching and ideas.
For Bud-Light, Gillette and Ben & Jerry’s I don’t care if they ditch DEI I’m not buying anything from them again.
