Sir Keir Starmer’s August 1st speech to the nation in the wake of the riots in places like Merseyside, London and Hartlepool following the Southport stabbings on July 29th was criticised by some for saying the square root of absolutely nothing. I disagree. I think it said quite a lot – if you were really listening.
The short, five-word summary of its import would be: “Shut up, peasants – or else!” But for those who require a more in-depth analysis, this may run as follows (Starmer’s words – lightly edited – appear in bold throughout).

They know exactly why, and it has been planned all along, this is phase 2… or 3 or whatever. Either way there is only one direction this is headed. I fear the only way of slowing it down is ‘revolting masses’ (civil war). We better be quick though.

Agreed: I think Ghandi probably had the right idea with massed peaceful non compliance. Rather than taking to the streets to play into the hands of our enemies, simply do not comply with anything. Don’t buy the goods, use cash etc. This was how the British were forced out of India… Nice idea, but not so sure how well it would work in our modern society. I very much doubt the resolution exists.

PS – My point is once a repressive regime gains a foothold it is very difficult to gain democracy. So our futures are bleak.
It is not like Cromwell and the English Civil War – which only brought democracy of a kind for the wealthy landowners and not the general population.
In this country there has been a form of democracy for less that 100 years but of course it is not democracy when successive governments are elected by a minority of voters leaving the majority unrepresented – with the present government being one of the worst cases.
Enfranchisement
In 1866, all voters had to be male adults over 21 years of age. The right to vote was still based upon a property qualification.
By the early 1860s around 1.43 million could vote out of a total population of 30 million.
In 1867, the Conservative government introduced the Parliamentary Reform Act. This increased the electorate to almost 2.5 million.
The most important change was the granting of the vote to occupiers in the boroughs (people who rented properties rather than owning them) and, as a result, the electorate in some of the newer towns in England and Scotland increased dramatically.
However, the Act did not alter the balance of political power in Britain. The middle classes still dominated the electorate in both towns and boroughs.
By the 1880s it was widely recognised that voters in counties deserved the same political rights as those in the boroughs. This led to the 1884 Parliamentary Reform Act. Approximately two in three men now had the vote – almost 18 per cent of the total population.
The Representation of the People Act gave the vote to all men over 21, whether they owned property or not.
The act gave the vote to women over the age of 30 who met a property qualification, or whose husband did. This represented 8.5 million women – two thirds of the total population of women in the UK.
In 1928 women were finally given the franchise on the same terms as men.
All adults over 21 could vote.
We have over the centuries built institutions to allow the challenge of power, to change of or get rid of policies, governance the people don’t want, to have reasonable objections, concerns and dissent addressed.
These institutions came about to prevent the default – violence – which is costly to all parties.
When those institutions are corrupted, debauched, no longer function, it’s return to default – violence, because that’s the only way to get change. History: Peasant’s Revolt; English Civil War.
We have a Governing class and a politicised police which has become their agents, who have taught the population that violence is the only way to make them listen and change, and make the police run away.
Examples of ‘two tier policing’ are plentiful. Want police to back-off, kneel and Government to support your ‘cause’, want the majority silenced, suppressed? Smash-up the streets, turn out in tens of thousands, be aggressive, be violent, scream hatred and violence.
Teach violence, you get violence.
How much stuffing of people from other cultures, many alien to ours who have values right out of the middle ages can we have before people start to feel very uncomfortable in their own neighbourhoods? This mass invasion of people where we see in every City, Town and even remote village, immigrants materialising out of thin air on a daily basis. Places with barely enough houses for the people who actually live there are having this influx, adding to the serious issue of housing, so migrants are lodged in any and all buildings that can be found. In my town, it is an old bank that is housing 20 migrants. If we were not signed up to Interntional treaties that dictate our immigration policy we would never allow any of this absurdity costing vast sums of money and destroying the National Identity.

As stated, Starmer’s course of action amounts to punishing people for crimes ‘experts’ believe they might commit, not for crimes they have actually committed. Figuratively spoken, this is the 100% effective Starmer Plan© to stop people dying from cancer: Shoot them before they can.
As with all supposedly preventive measures, there’s no way to tell if they did actually prevent anything. If Starmer’s honest, he honestly believes they will despite he has absolutely no way of knowing that, not exactly a good justification for any kind policy as it’s essentially superstition. The message from the Establishment is “don’t you dare take to the streets to complain about our clients murdering your children – or we’ll set the dogs on you”.

I have just read that at the anti immigration rally in Belfast people were seen carrying the Union Jack and The Tricolour marching side by side. It filled my heart with joy.

Crime is crime, says the Prime Minister. Well, doesn’t everyone know. Especially those shopkeepers in Middlesborough who are subject to so much shoplifting that the police issue them with crime numbers for insurance claim purposes and do nothing else. Crime is crime but a perpetrator can still only serve a fraction of their sentence. The mainstream media never mention “far-left thugs” in their coverage of overt disputes. Editors work on the basis that “if it bleeds it leads”. However, covert haemorrhage of freedom, wealth lifestyle and tradition is not so photogenic, so it is up to the sceptics and the FSU to provide the coverage. The real battlefront should not be the streets of the cities but rather be the meeting-rooms of universities and woke institutions. The general public must be made to realise and understand that the Conservative, Labour, Lib Dem parties have NEVER HAD ANY INTENTION TO LIMIT IMMIGRATION! If they had they would have come out of the ECHR and repealed the many treaties that they have signed giving refugees the right to come and live here.
Their criminally total and stupid application of climate change and net zero is another symptom of their total subjugation to the global elites in the WEF, UN, WHO etc. who demand free movement of people to level up the world’s wealth and the creation of a one world government. Unfortunately, I feel that the UK will be well and truly stuffed before the next general election and I do not think Reform can get its act together before then to reverse this dire outcome in the time available.
The simple questions are the most meaningful: What on earth did the government/media/Guardian readers expect?
The ‘far-Right’ has been all but non-existent in this country for many decades. The fact that a lot of people are suddenly behaving in ways which it suits holier-than-thou politicians and associated commentators to describe as “far-Right” should simply tell them that those famously phlegmantic British citizens, until now so sure of their national identity, have had enough. I don’t approve of chucking rocks at the police, but I certainly understand why they’re doing it. These are acts of fear, committed by people who feel righteously aggrieved but have no power to object otherwise. Those of them who, like me, can turn a fancy phrase or two, might sublimate the urge to act physically. That doesn’t make writers ‘better’ than rioters; they merely do my dirty work for me. So long as they hurt no one physically – I approve of their actions.
What is a “government of service”
It’s a superfluous expression – a pleonasm – a redundancy – verbiage – a circumlocution – a truism. All governments are governments “of service”; it’s their job to serve. Not that many modern politicians understand such an old-fashioned concept, preferring instead to stick their oar in; shove a spanner in the works – whichever expression takes your fancy. It’s Starmer performing a conjuring trick; one of the meaningless phrases that somehow sticks in the public discourse – like “minded to”, which popped up out of nowhere some years ago (John Major?) and was suddenly seen and heard everywhere (although there are better examples of the genre). Best ignored, or treated with contempt.

The police are now identified with one side in the culture wars: they indulged the perpetrators in the Rotherham grooming industry, they bow the knee to BMS and charge in full riot gear at peaceful protesters against the lockdowns, they emote over the Manchester bombings [ planned spontaneity ] they are now politicised through the policies of Whitehall, governments and the police elites. That is now the reason for attacks on the police, they are ‘them’ not ‘us’
An excellent summing up of a situation I can’t help feeling the government (both ships of fools) have been waiting for so that they have an excuse to implement more controls.
The Police Commissioner for Hampshire and The Isle of Wight has spoken out to say that burning down police stations etc is not the answer, with which we could all agree.
She added
“I’ve spoken to people from both sides of the spectrum and the only way to stem the tide of violent disorder is to acknowledge what is causing it,”
“Whilst the devastating attacks in Southport on Tuesday were a catalyst, the commonality amongst the protest groups appears to be focussed on three key areas: the desire to protect Britain’s sovereignty; the need to uphold British values, and, in order to do this, stop illegal immigration.”
I gather this common sense response has triggered a massive left wing reaction.
The Far Left seems to be totally oblivious of the obvious truth in her comments.
I despair as Starmer’s approach seems to be totally counterproductive and likely to increase rather than reduce further potentially violent protests.
‘… Shared intelligence, wider deployment of facial recognition technology,… criminal behaviour orders to restrict their movements… the same way we do with football hooligans.’
Why have the organizers and weekly participants in the pro-Hamas demonstrations in London over the past 10 months not been targeted with facial recognition and hooligan suppression tactics?
As usual extreme views and the urge to attack “right” or “left” seem to attract FAR too many people. Starmer is foolish to focus on “extreme right.” What is wrong is thuggery.
It is pure fiction – only a movie – in Knight and Day Tom Cruise’s character Roy Miller tells June [Cameron Diaz] if they start using words like ‘safe’ and ‘secure’ they are going to take you somewhere to kill you.
