Huw Edwards Charged With Making Indecent Images of Children

by Will Jones
29 July 2024 7:00 PM

Huw Edwards has been charged with three counts of making indecent images of children, the Metropolitan Police has said. The Telegraph has more.

The 62-year-old, who left the BBC last year, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, charged with three offences relating to images shared on WhatsApp.

Mr. Edwards, who was one of the BBC’s most highly-paid stars, was arrested last November by detectives from Scotland Yard. He was charged last month.

According to the charge sheet, Mr. Edwards is accused of having six category A images, 12 category B pictures and 19 category C photographs on WhatsApp.

The offences are contrary to sections 1(1)(a) and 6 of the Protection of Children Act 1978. If found guilty, he could receive a maximum penalty of six months imprisonment and/or an unlimited fine.

A Met spokesman said: “The offences, which are alleged to have taken place between December 2020 and April 2022, relate to images shared on a WhatsApp chat.

“Edwards was arrested on Nov 8th 2023. He was charged on Wednesday June 26th following authorisation from the Crown Prosecution Service. He has been bailed to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday July 31st.

“Media and the public are strongly reminded that this is an active case. Nothing should be published, including on social media, which could prejudice future court proceedings.”

Worth reading in full.

“Media and the public are strongly reminded that this is an active case.

prejudice future court proceedings.”

I’m saying nowt until after the court case – so that he (and, more importantly, the children involved) get a fair trial and to ensure there’s no possible wiggle room for the defence to use as an excuse. I’ll no doubt have plenty to say after the verdict.

So Huw Edwards has been charged with sexual offences, unlike Russell Brand, who hasn’t, despite trial by mainstream media.

They have reported that he resigned. However, it could be that his pension will be linked to inflation, and given his salary it could be a useful source of income later on.

Are you wanting us to be outraged about it and start make baseless assumptions? I am appalled but see no point in discussing it on this thread, or even at all at this stage.
Speculation is pointless without knowledge of any of the facts.

The perp has been confirmed as Ali Al Shakati. He was on an MI6 watch list and was known to Liverpool mental health services.

Currently held by the police.

Then I take it all back. That is what I would call a salient fact.

So I may have inadvertently posted fake news under the previous article because this just in. He’s got a migration background but not fresh off the boat.
It’s behind a stupid paywall but the ‘Esc’ trick works;

”The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons and is originally from Cardiff, moved to the Southport area with his Rwandan parents when he was aged six.
In a press conference, Chief Constable Serena Kennedy, of Merseyside Police, said that while the incident was not being treated as terror-related, colleagues from counter-terror policing had offered to assist with the investigation.
She said the motivation behind the attack remained unclear.”

How to interpretate these stories:

Reports where no ethnicity mentioned = definitely a muzzie.

“Mental health issues = a muzzie, probably an illegal and probably arrived by boat.

More disturbing to me is the fact that he was part of a Whatsapp group which, presumably, was involved in the spreading and discussion of this nasty perversion. His involvement would seem to be a lot deeper that simply having these images stored on his hard drive.

What I don’t understand is why an evil Muslim child porn dealer caught with a thousand horrific images was only given a slap on the wrist.

“Community service”, can you believe it?
What better opportunity to indulge his perversion than community service, perhaps volunteering with a parents & toddlers group?

And a depraved British child porn dealer caught showing child porn videos to Muslim naval cadets at his flat years ago, was let off scot-free, along with the cadets, to avoid any scandal.
