Keir Starmer Accused of “Purge” After Another Labour Candidate Blocked From Standing Amid Antisemitism Row

by Richard Eldred
30 May 2024 11:55 AM

Labour’s Left is accusing Keir Starmer of a “purge” after a Labour candidate was barred from standing in the General Election for liking a series of posts on X that downplayed accusations of antisemitism. The Telegraph has more.

Faiza Shaheen, an economist and academic, was selected to be Labour’s candidate in the north London constituency of Chingford & Woodford Green but found out on Wednesday night that she will not be endorsed by the party.

She is the latest prospective Left-wing Labour candidate to be barred by the party from standing on July 4th and it comes amid the row over the candidacy of former Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott.

The Telegraph reported on Wednesday that Labour has also suspended Lloyd Russell-Moyle, the MP for Brighton Kemptown, pending the outcome of an investigation into a serious complaint received last week.

Earlier on Wednesday former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn accused Sir Keir Starmer of carrying out a “purge”.

Ms. Shaheen said she had “thought” she was the Labour candidate for the constituency, but got an email on Wednesday evening that she said claimed she would “frustrate Labour’s purpose”. …

Ms. Shaheen liked a post on X, formerly Twitter, alleging that anyone critical of Israel is “assailed” by “professional organisations” who “every time” inflict “non-stop harassment” and “accuse you of antisemitism”.

The post went on to claim that “you can’t easily ignore” the Israel lobby because they “tend to be your friends or people who move in the same circles as you”.

Ms. Shaheen later appeared on Newsnight to whinge about her deselection.

I’m genuinely worried for my civil liberties under a @Keir_Starmer government.

Keir Starmer is clearly resolute on presenting a ‘changed’ Labour Party, distancing it from the one that held Jeremy Corbyn in such high regard. However, his recent flip-flopping over Diane Abbott shows that this strategy, with some party factions still nostalgic for the Corbyn era (after all, he won the leadership by courting their support), has perilously frayed the bonds between leader and party, signalling trouble ahead for Sir Keir should Labour win power in July.

"Comrades, I must report news of great purges overnight…"
Ruthless Starmer is on the rampage, and the left are going bananas…

Stop Press: Angela Rayner has thrown Starmer under the bus by coming out in support of Diane Abbott, according to the Telegraph.

Labour MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle has been “working day and night.” Funnily enough so has Ranting although her “day and night” work has been on behalf of Gaza and not her constituents in Ashton.

What exactly is this “work” that requires such a round the clock input because it rarely makes the news?

Your point about who they should be working on behalf of is an excellent one and cannot be repeated often enough

They love to pontificate about stuff we can hardly influence as it saves them from explaining why they have broken their promises

There is no anti-Semitism problem in the Labour Party and never has been.
Being anti-Zionist aggression against the indigenous Palestinians is NOT anti-Semitism.

A related comment on “new antisemitism”.

“In order to cement the usefulness of antisemitism for generations to come, the young state decided – without authority or permission, arrogantly and foolishly – to make the State of Israel and the entire Jewish people completely identical, thereby making the Jewish people a party to all of its deeds and misdeeds.”

“When Israel acts wildly, it doesn’t suffer all the consequences of its actions. Thanks to the “new antisemitism,” the entire Jewish people is seen as a party to its crimes and pays a price. But the “Jewish people” did not kill 35,000 people, did not starve masses of people, did not wipe out hospitals, demolish cities and uproot millions from their homes. “The Jews” did not do all these things. The Israelis did. Just the Israelis.”

Paul Collits at TCW making a fine case for voting the tories out even if Starmer will be an unholy horror story.

Interestingly I watched The Godfather films 1&2 back to back yesterday and seeing Starmer in that classic pose I was forced to smile; Don Vito and Michael had more ruthlessness, leadership and sheer Machiavellian intellect in their little fingers than Starmer has shown in all his years in the public gaze. He is more Fredo than Michael …

I read in IMDB that John Cazale (Fredo) only appeared in five films, all were Oscar nominated . ‘Godfather 1 and ll’. ‘Dog Day afternoon’, ‘The Conversation’ and ‘The Deer Hunter’. Sadly, he died aged 42 in 1978.

This is news because…?

I literally couldn’t care less about the process the Labour Party goes through to select its candidates.

I could just ignore the article and move on. But I hate to see the DS turn itself into an instrument for amplifying the Westminster intrigues, just like the entire traditional media.

When the public is dragged into these supposed rows or controversies it’s just so that they can be swayed in one direction or another and thereby used as a weapon by one side against the other. That’s all it is. Outrage on demand at the service of a political party.

Is that really what the DS aspires to?

To be fair there is a mix of articles on the site but I agree 100% about this one.

Also feel any hint that Starmer is somehow “moderate” is dangerously inaccurate

This is just somebody posting a comment from one of their followers on Twitter, so take it with a pinch of salt. However, did this lady just get unlucky meeting this man or does he reflect what the majority of British Muslims probably feel, do you think? I’m only assuming this comment is genuine;

“Enjoy your posts David. I recently helped my aged mother sell her house. A lovely young couple, I thought, came to look at it & whilst my mother was showing the wife around the house I had a coffee with her husband in the kitchen.

“In the course of our conversation (in a broad Brummie accent) he told me that he was a Muslim & proceeded to tell me about Gaza & why all Parties in the UK were disgusting, genocidal & not worth voting for.

“His interpretation of the history of the region & his aggressive defence of Hamas began to make me feel quite uncomfortable & after weakly putting up a counter narrative – I was after all only trying to sell a house – I tried to change the subject.

“Within 5 minutes I was being advised that women in Britain needed to be more like Muslim women, needed to have more respect & needed to go back to the days of covering their heads. He informed me this was not uncommon in Britain in the 50s.

“He ended up by telling me that Islam was a peaceful religion & that I should come down to the Mosque. This was my concern. He was on the surface a very nice guy & clearly born & bred in the UK.

“However his primary belief system was informed entirely by his religion.

“He jokingly (I think) told me that Britain needed a proper Muslim Party & this would restore faith, respect & a real direction to the Country. We shook hands & they left.

“If second & third generation Muslims born & brought up in the UK want the opportunity to vote for a Muslim Party & the number of Muslims in the UK is rising sharply, this Country is doomed.

“By 2050 we could easily have the Muslim vote determining policy in the UK (Labour are already adapting as evidenced by Angela Rayners recent uncomfortable meeting with an all male group of Muslims)

“At that stage we can wave goodbye to 300 years of progress & painfully won freedoms for women & members of the LGBT community.

“It’s a terrifying prospect which the liberal left seem incapable of recognising. They don’t understand the danger of tolerating the intolerant.”

I understand exactly where the lady referred to above is coming from.

In the last few years I have been involved at a local level with the Independent political movement and have occasionally had meetings with muslims. Their women are never, never present whereas we have an equal mix of men and women. Muslim men have absolutely no regard for the opinions of women and it is rather disturbing to be present in such meetings. Nowadays I would not give them the time of day.

In the North West muslims have awoken to the fact that they don’t need the Labour Party and stood some Independents in the recent Locals and this is what is worrying the Labour Party and people like Ranting and the MP for Kashmir – Debbie Abrahams.

This election will be the Labour Party’s swansong because by the time of the next election they will only be relevant as a minor coalition Party and that possibly aligned to a muslim party.

The indigenous people are in for the fight of their lives or we will fall to the feudal barbarism of Islam.

Thanks for the interesting insight and sharing your personal experiences around this subject, hux. It’s both depressing and worrying isn’t it? I wasn’t sure quite how bad it had got, what with being out the loop after moving abroad, although I suppose it varies across different areas of the UK. I think we’re all aware of the more notorious places by now though. I don’t rush to believe whatever I come across online just because it confirms my bias, but your experience seems to certainly tally with the above comment, which lends it credibility. Actually I see many more comments on that account, as he shares them regularly. For instance, how places down South, such as Bournemouth, have seriously deteriorated and become notorious for the amount of migrants housed there plus the correlation in a rise in sex attacks reported.
But aside from all that, I didn’t realise we can also add Andrew Bridgen to the mix come July 4th;

”I am no longer an MP. Parliament has been dissolved.
On HS2, the Horizon scandal, infected blood, vaccine harms and much more besides, I have stood up for you for fourteen years.
Will you stand with me on the 4th of July?
If you crave REAL change, free thinkers must retain a toe hold in Parliament. Vote Independent.”

https://x.com/ABridgen/status/1796112155927847206

Also this looks very interesting. I think a lot of people feel like this atm;

”Exclusive: Are you fed up with the corrupt political system? Don’t want to vote for any of them?

We have heard you. Here’s an idea:
Lets peacefully burn the system down and ignite a constitutional crisis!!!

You may not realise this but every vote must be counted even if you write on the ballot “we do not comply” but when you simply don’t vote you are handing power over to the globalists.
If you agree then you need to register to Vote however listen carefully to what we discuss here.

Lets use our votes to instead force a constitutional crisis that could bring the system down and force the globalists infesting our parliamentary system out.
David Ellis defence analyst joins me as a guest to discuss this and the fact that the globalists are attempting to ignite a war with Russian by this Autumn and send thousands of our young men and woman to die on the battlefields of Ukraine.

We must not allow this.
The system is completely corrupt and perhaps its time to peacefully burn it down and restore power back to the people.”

His face can only be described as a rictus. Normally when you see a facial expression you would be prompted to suggest a caption. With him it is a mixture of blankness, mania and duplicity. I have never seen such a face before. I can’t even conceive of the damage that it could do.

So Starmer has agreed to play the notorious mob boss in the Godfather 4. Will horses heads suddenly appear under the duvet’s of energy bosses that don’t get all their electricity from wind farms?— “Hey you dumb schmucks behind every successful fortune there is a crime”———Today they call it Net Zero

The fact is The Labour Party is finished in all but name. It has two choices – to become a muslim party or be replaced by a muslim party.

But in the meantime, the current lot will still make hay while they can. Starmer is playing to the gallery pretending he is a centrist, but I believe he is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. When Blair came to office he had to battle with remnants of old England – the Church, the House of Lords, the press (even the BBC which still had culturally conservative programmes within its drama department) plus society in general. But Starmer has none of those people to fight. Who will oppose him? Not the press, not the civil service, not the church, not universities and not even the middle classes. Fasten your seatbelts for a swift descent into a country where speech is regulated, travel is restricted and your bank account monitored.

Happy days.
