Activists demonstrating against the planned expansion of Tesla’s gigafactory near Berlin have violently clashed with police as some tried to rush the site after hundreds turned out in protest. The Mail has the story.
Graphic images from the scene showed how officers equipped with riot gear were embroiled in a brutal fistfight with a sea of enraged demonstrators carrying flags and banners which read “disrupt capitalism, create future”.
One shocking clip saw a stampede of protesters charge across a field toward the officers, who responded in kind by spraying CS gas and beating the oncoming demonstrators with batons and reinforced gloves.
Several were seen being dragged away with bloody noses and arrested as others continued to push back against the heavily armoured riot police, chanting slogans including “say it loud, say it clear – Elon Musk is not welcome here”.
It is unclear whether any of the protesters have managed to gain access to the facility which was shut down for four days as of yesterday amid the demonstrations.
This week’s protests were organised by Disrupt – an organisation that describes itself as “a coalition of groups” pushing for a “Just and solidarity-based world beyond capitalism”.
They say Elon Musk’s electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer is associated with “labour accidents, water scarcity, deforestation, environmental pollution and exploitation (in Berlin) and worldwide”. …
Tesla’s ambitions to expand its German plant hit a roadblock in February when citizens voted against a motion to raze trees and make way for a larger site.
The premises then suffered an arson attack in March which forced an evacuation of workers and caused a power outage.

What’s not clear is how this mob relates to climate protesters. The electric cars that Tesla makes are central to the Net Zero goals of most countries. Yet here we have a gang of traditional anti-capitalist protesters trying to shut it down. What would Greta say? Maybe as long as Musk isn’t performing in Eurovision she doesn’t mind.
Note that, as at other Leftist demonstrations, the protesters are all wearing Covid face masks. Why has that become the accepted symbol of woke protests? To conceal identity, instil fear, protect from germs or out of nostalgia for the 2020 BLM riots? Discuss.

I guarantee that these moves are more about attacking Elon Musk rather than a heartfelt protest. They’re children, lashing out because he took away their Twitter and regularly mocks the woke nonsense.

A cynic might say that groups of activists don’t really care what they are demonstrating against, as long as it keeps them busy. And advertisers probably don’t mind as long as the coverage helps their sales.

Indeed, but remember that electric traction for various modes of transport has many benefits, independent of the source of power. After all, some of the earliest electric railway systems were built by the North Eastern Railway, in the early 20th century, where almost certainly 100% of the power would come from coal. And of course, in London, the underground railway firm had it’s own coal fired power station by the Thames.
Just like Trump, Laurence Fox, Russel Brand et al. They have to get Musk for going against the narrative. This was clearly a well organised and elite funded operation. If they wanted to protest about felling trees and capitalism, the Brothers Grimm fairy tale forest ain’t that far away. It’s could be the last time they’ll see a tree before they’ve all gone for wind farms.
