Humza Yousaf Resigns

by Will Jones
29 April 2024 11:11 AM

Humza Yousaf announced his resignation as Scotland’s First Minister at noon today. The Telegraph has more.

The SNP leader will quit ahead of a vote of no confidence at Holyrood, expected on Wednesday, that it appeared likely he would lose.

The development comes only four days after he held a press conference at his Bute House official residence to announce he was ending his coalition deal with the Scottish Greens.

Mr. Yousaf will make a statement on his future at Bute House in Edinburgh at noon. …

Lorna Slater, the co-leader of Scottish Greens, said Humza Yousaf had shown “very poor judgement” by scrapping the coalition deal.

Asked if Mr. Yousaf would only have himself to blame if he does lose his job, Ms. Slater told Sky News this morning: “Yes, I think so.

“I think he showed very poor judgement to suddenly collapse a pro-independence majority government when we had worked together really well for two and a half years.”

Read more here.

Turfing out a far Left outfit that refused to accept the impossibility of Scotland’s particularly extreme Net Zero targets or the scientific findings of the Cass Review on transgender medicine for young people was a good decision from an ideological point of view and in terms of appealing to voters. But politically, given the numbers at Holyrood, it was disastrous and made Yousaf’s position untenable.

The Telegraph‘s Gordon Rayner says “Humza Yousaf’s hate crime and trans laws will be his divisive legacy“.

In truth, the public never wanted Mr. Yousaf as First Minister: opinion polls before his election consistently showed that Kate Forbes, his socially conservative rival for the leadership, was far more popular with both SNP supporters and voters as a whole.

But will the SNP now install Forbes as his successor? Of course not. Can’t have a conservative in charge. Particularly if the arrangement relies on the Greens not opposing it.

Instead, John Swinney is being widely touted as leader of a new minority SNP administration: a former Deputy First Minister who backed gender self-ID for 16 year-olds, boasted in 2018 that Scotland would be “the first country in the world” to have an LGBT-inclusive education “embedded” into the school curriculum, and is fanatical about Net Zero.

To be replaced by some other loon.

I would have thought that Scottish Labour would be more likely political bedfellows for the SNP than the Greens – if it wasn’t for the pesky single issue politics of dissolving the Union with the auld enemy.

Just a thought but with the SNP and Conservatives suitably discredited, at election time the only remaining option for those who think voting makes a difference is Labour for both the UK and Scottish government? Labour could then continue their unpopular policies without the unpleasant backlash of introducing them.

Scotland’s new First Minister had better not be white or there will be trouble.

It is also funny watching his camp helper trying to keep up. People like that infest the Home Office I bet. Then is it any wonder why nothing is done about the dinghy divers!

That little video pretty much describes his whole leadership, starts off wobbly, gets very wobbly then ends in a total crash!🤭

He made a point about clamping down on hatred against minorities. What about the English minority who are regularly targeted by the Scots?

I’m half-and-half English/Scottish (plus various other bits). I was in Aberdeen during the 1978 ‘Ally’s Army’ football world cup bid. Many people I met took the p*ss out of my Englishness but it was all good natured banter. I reckon if I’d got all precious and offended it would have got worse. It was then I discovered my limit for McEwan’s Export Heavy.

Or even working class because since 2020 they are the demographic that has been shafted the hardest.

Nicola’s just gone out to buy the milk. Maybe she’ll come back as First Minister

Apologies to the young folks (or at least the ones whose fathers never told them about erstwhile, British politicians): this is a Michael Foot reference, about those who appear completely unsuited to power getting just that.

The SNP are now in the absurd position of having to choose a new leader who has to be someone the Green Party wants!

So he was correct to ditch the preposterous GREENS/REDS and any trans nonsense but has been forced into calling it a day. Personally, having to live in the Socialist Republic of Scotlandia I am glad to see the back of the REDS but won’t be completely happy till the silly Eco Socialist nutters (SNP) that want to run off and join the Germans and pretend that will be some kind of “Independence” are booted out as well. ——It looks like Labour are the only ones to boot them out since Scots never vote for Tories, and so be it then.

OMG, is this Labour guy on the cards to be Yousaf’s replacement? Play the clip. I don’t know if somebody’s doctored the vid so it sounds exactly like Yousaf’s now infamously racist speech, but this is uncanny. I know they’re differing political parties but can you be so unlucky that lightening strikes twice? So another racist’s lined up to rule over Scotland. Somebody else who basically thinks the country is too, well…Scottish. 😮

Yes I just watched it. ——–Who are these f…ing imbeciles? —-I knew a complete moron about 40 years ago. I mean this guy was as thick and pig ignorant as could be, yet where is he today? —-He is a councillor. ——–I have mentioned before on here that in a country where 83% of the population is WHITE how is it a surprise there are WHITE people everywhere in positions of authority where it took them all their lives to be there and they started out in a country that was probably 98% WHITE? But current immigration policy certainly seeks to do something about that as in every town and village all over the country BLACK people are appearing out of thin air.

The perfect example, (as if we needed more…) of why you don’t give power and public money to people who would be out of their depth organising the village fete. Devolution has been a collosal waste of money, also City Mayor and PPC’s. Which idiot thought it was a good idea to have all these extra layers of grifters and incompetents sticking their finger in every pie and build their little fiefdoms like they were someone of substance. They aren’t. They are pocket filling, empire builders who should be nowhere near any levers of power.

Party leaders. The more political positions exist, the more party greats can be used to occupy them (and get paid for that). A cynic could also conclude that enabling people to vote more will distract them from realizing that their votes somehow never really influence actual politics, eg “Get Brexit done by indoor mask mandates!” or “Because we’re now again souvereign, we haved to defer to The International Experts™ on all import matters!”
