Our democracy is in grave danger! We already know that it is threatened by humour, the Supreme Court and white rural voters. WEF and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s adviser, Wharton Professor Adam Grant, also explained that elections are bad for our democracy.
That is not all. A grave new threat emerged: excessive free speech.

Globe and Mail is Canada’s most widely read newspaper on weekdays and Saturdays, so we better take it seriously. Its Public Affairs Columnist, Washington-based Lawrence Martin, looks like a slimmed-down Donald Trump, whom Lawrence dislikes intensely despite close visual resemblance. (I wonder if Mr. Martin’s mum cavorted with Fred Trump in the Fall of 1946.)
Mr. Martin is very upset that the internet “empowered” the masses “against establishment forces”:
The business model of the newspaper industry Mr. Martin represents is threatened by the internet, which he laments:
Lawrence Martin forgets that the media itself contributes to polarisation. For instance:
Looking in the mirror, which is never the strong suit of most people, is something that Lawrence Martin should practice occasionally.
In any case, Globe and Mail has a prescription on how to save democracy: rigid regulation of speech. Such a get-tough-on-speech approach will certainly protect democracy and safeguard our most basic freedoms:
The dangerous anti-democratic free-speech lobby, Globe and Mail implies, is just as bad as the baby-killing gun lobby.
I hope, my friends, we all see that our democracy is under threat: it is being simultaneously attacked by white voters, free speech, elections and the U.S. Constitution.

Nazi Faeser over in Germany definitely doesn’t tolerate free speech. Unless it’s about things she agrees with, then you can be as ”free” as you want;
”There is increasing tension between the coalition parties governing in Germany’s three-way government, with the Free Democrats (FDP) turning up the heat in the dispute over freedom of expression, especially when it comes to the country’s controversial interior minister.
The German law enforcement structure and domestic spy agencies are looking to reshape the country with the new “Democracy Promotion Act,” which will contain a number of measures that will allow the government to take action against those critical of the government, including the ability to prosecute expressions of opinion that typically fall below the criminal liability threshold.
Now, a number of well-known politicians from the FDP party, which is known for its libertarian leanings when it comes to freedom of expression, are using particularly harsh language against Faeser and the government’s plans. The criticism is notable given the FDP’s own role in the coalition.
Bundestag Vice President Wolfgang Kubicki, who is the deputy federal leader of the FDP, told Bild newspaper: “The fight against the ‘right’ seems to be turning into a fight against rights.” He is now calling the interior minister a “threat to democracy,” and said he “never dreamed” of describing her in such a manner.
Other FDP politicians are also taking issue with Faeser’s “fight against the right.”
“Freedom of opinion & the principle of proportionality are central contents of our constitution. The end does not justify every means. Well-intentioned does not mean well-done. Discrediting legitimate criticism by citing political murder is infamous,” wrote FDP MP and former General-Secretary Linda Teuteberg.”

Nazi Faeser over in Germany definitely doesn’t tolerate free speech.
While I was still living in Mainz, I used to have a postcard on my door showing a muscular arm with a raised fist on brown background and the text Nazis against the far right. By that time, I believed this to be a joke. That someone could really consider this an appropriate label for the frenetically anti-German (would be) Nazi-hunters from the SPD is something I wouldn’t have believed at that time.
The woman (lady being really inappropriate here) is called Nancy Faeser, probably inentionally given an American first name to express that her parents were already deeply uncomfortable with being German. She’d doubtlessly agree that antifascism is ingrained in her DNA and that her mission is to eliminate Nazis to save the planet (or some other meaningless phrase like that).
One down tick? Leftist agitator in the room?
Nazis were leftists not right wing. Very Marxist in their policies and meddling with businesses and society.
That you want Nazi-call your opponents as badly as they you doesn’t mean anything for the world outside of your head. To wit: After two hapless attempts (v. Schleicher and v. Papen) of a monarchist (DNVP) government resting solely on the presidental power to issue emergencies decrees, v. Papen talked v. Hindenburg into appointing Hitler as chancellor of a cabinett dominate by monarchists. They didn’t do this because they believed he was really Lenin in disguise and as opposed to you, they actually knew him and his party.
Wonderful article by Igor Chudov. It illustrates that the Globalists are literally insane.
Methinks it’s more them being convinced that people listening to them must be extremely stupid and will swallow whatever nonsense they’re being asked to swallow. And I suspect they’re right about that.
I’m not sure insane is the right word …. they seem to be terrified. Like every despot in history, their response to a threat is to attack.
Obviously, this buffoon doesn’t understand that the phrase ‘excessive free speech’ is meaningless. In my mind, there is either free speech or there isn’t.
But of course, in a failed democracy he may well make perfect sense!
Personally I am a Free Speech Absolutist!
Free Speech is the cornerstone of a Free Society and Civilisation, without Free Speech you can have no other rights.
However, the exercise of Free Speech may incur a cost
Freedom of speech does not guarantee freedom from consequences, someone who expresses certain opinions or idea’s may lose friends or reputation, and be socially ostracised or shunned.
I also accept that in civilised society there may be speech that is unacceptable, beyond the pale.
Let me guess, people like Lawrence Martin should be the ones to determine for all of us how much free speech is enough and when exactly it becomes too much, right?
A committee of Lawrence Martins who know what’s best.
Two important things to know about Free Speech —(1) It is free and (2) It is only speech. —————-We are in big trouble when what speech is to be allowed is to be determined by government. This is where we are now all across the western world with absurd “Hate Speech” laws seeking to bludgeon the personal opinions out of us. Governments only want one opinion —THEIRS. —–We see the mother of all tyranny in Chris Morrison’s article about the new Martin Durkin film “Climate The Movie”, where an entire global cabal of government, anti capitalists, bought and paid for media and assorted useful idiot environmental groups are SILENCING any talk that questions the narrative that there is a climate crisis and government have the solutions for that even though there is little in the way of empirical evidence. ——When scientists and experts in energy are hounded from their positions for exercising their right to an opinion then what we have is a Scientific Dictatorship. The ability to speak freely is what makes us free. If we cannot speak freely we are no longer free.
“Excessive Free Speech” Threatens Democracy, Says Journalist at Top Canadian Newspaper”
I might have to consider a free speech diet then. Has anybody come across one?
Can I diet on alternate days? How will I know when I have exceeded my allowance?
I’m dieting by ignoring the “free speech” at the BBC, the Guardian etc …. and I’ll add the “free speech” at the Globe and Mail to the list (not that I’ve ever read it).
The rich and powerful are dangerous. They need to be reminded of their place from time to time
Get your pitchforks ready.
In Canada much of the media is bribed, sorry I mean subsidized, by the Trudeau government so their income and jobs are dependent upon being nice to Trudeau’s government.
Trudeau has a bill, C-63 (Online Harms Act) which will censor speech that does not align with a government-appointed board.
