Former Neighbours actress and pop star Holly Valance has declared she is voting Reform at the next election, saying she hopes the insurgent party blows the Tories “to smithereens”. The Mail has more.
The 40-year-old, who is married to billionaire property tycoon Nick Candy, made a rumble last month being tipped to join the Tory party as an MP after she launched a viral rant about Lefties having “crap ideas”.
Yet just weeks later her allegiance has changed, revealing last night she would be ditching her loyalty to the Tories and will instead vote for Reform in the next General Election.
“Last time I voted Conservatives,” she told Christopher Hope on GB News. “Next time I’ll be voting Reform. I think the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome and I’m sure as hell not voting Labour.”
Holly’s political pivot comes just days after Lee Anderson became the first MP to join Richard Tice’s party after he had the Conservative whip removed over comments ‘Islamophobic and racist’ comments about London Mayor Sadiq Khan.
Throughout the interview the singer also revealed she wanted the party to be led by former Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage and said Jacob Rees-Mogg would make a good Prime Minister.
Hailing Mr. Anderson, Holly said: “I support anybody that sort of sticks to what they believe in and isn’t a turncoat, doesn’t do a million flip flops and U-turns.
“So I can have respect for that. Even for like nutters on the other side, if you stick to what you believe and you keep reiterating that over years and years I can always respect that.”
She added: “Lee’s moved from Labour to Conservatives now to Reform. It’s really weird because there was this Reform party in Canada in 1993 that ditched the Tories in Canada as well, or got rid of the blew them to smithereens, which is probably what’s going to happen here.
“It’s not that I think that we’re necessarily going to have a Reform Government but that it’s a means to the next chapter.”
Valance clearly enjoys being able to speak her mind and not having to worry about how she is perceived by the right-on set. “I’m on no-one’s payroll,” she added. “My opinions are my own. Some of them will stink to you and some of them will stink to your listeners, but they are mine. … Unless my kids are doing it, who can cancel me?’
