German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach has struck again. After recently insisting that there could not be DNA contamination in COVID-19 vaccines since they are “made with RNA not DNA” – even though the RNA itself is manufactured precisely from DNA! – Lauterbach, expressing his sympathy with a vaccinated Covid-sufferer, has now said that he hopes we will soon have a vaccine that stops people from catching the illness.
But that is precisely what current COVID-19 vaccines were supposed to do! That is what they were authorised to do. They are not authorised to do anything else.
Lauterbach was responding to a tweet by the well-known German virologist – and COVID-19-vaccine promoter – Isabella Eckerle, in which Eckerle complains:
So every year now #COVID-19 twice and weeks of coughing after… even if #SARS-CoV-2 is now endemic and won’t go away, it’s still not a cheerful prospect.
In a quote tweet, Lauterbach replied,
That’s true unfortunately. Hopefully, we’ll soon manage to have a vaccine which protects against infection.
and then went on to change the subject to Long Covid.
Lauterbach’s response reflects the current dogma in Germany – and, at least implicitly, among Covidians worldwide – that COVID-19 vaccines protect against severe illness and death, but do not prevent COVID-19 as such. But apart from the veracity of the former claim, the problem with this is that COVID-19 vaccines were only ever authorised precisely to prevent COVID-19 as such.
See the below, for instance, from the European Medicines Agency on the ‘Comirnaty’ vaccine of the German company BioNTech and its American partner Pfizer. I include the EMA letterhead for Lauterbach’s benefit.
What degree of lawlessness do public health authorities have to have achieved to continue promoting – or even indeed allowing – the use of a drug which they admit does not satisfy the conditions of its authorisation? If a COVID-19 vaccine like Comirnaty does not prevent COVID-19, then obviously its authorisation – for “preventing COVID-19” – ought to be withdrawn.
