“As a Heating Engineer, It’s Clear Customers Will Be Left Without Heating Entirely Because They Can’t Afford a Heat Pump”

by Will Jones
14 September 2023 7:00 PM

A Daily Sceptic reader who’s a heating engineer has got in touch to say that with the approaching ban on gas and oil boilers, he can easily foresee the day when customers will be left without heating and hot water entirely because they can’t afford a heat pump.

I have been a Heating Engineer for the last 25 years and am horrified at where our Uniparty politicians are taking us with their Carbon Net Zero lunacy. I have seen a memo from Worcester Bosch stating that it is going to be fined from 2024 if it sells more than 20,000 gas boilers or 1,000 oil boilers and as a result will have to pass the cost on to the consumer. I have completed a hydronics course and it is obvious that heat pumps are at best expensive and in a great many cases totally unsuitable for a lot of our housing stock. I can already see a situation where I attend a boiler breakdown and find that the boiler can’t be repaired and with this new legislation that the customer won’t be able to afford a new boiler or a heat pump and will be left with no heating or hot water.

This is much the same legislation that has been foisted on the motor industry where companies will be fined for selling too many petrol and diesel cars so have pulled models such as the Ford Fiesta. We seem to be heading headlong into a Net Zero disaster that none of us voted for or were even given a choice. There is an election coming and most people seem unaware that the four main parties are all signed up to this madness.

Ditch the ban, Sunak. It’s the right policy, it’s the popular policy. The contribution of U.K. boilers to world CO2 emissions is truly miniscule, even on official estimates. The only people who’ll complain are the green lunatics who think the world is going to end unless we follow through on such self-destructive, pointless gestures. Drop the eco-extremism and reap the rewards.

A piece in the Telegraph today is just a promo for Octopus Energy and sings the praises of heat pumps for home heating . I worked in the brewing business for years and cut my teeth on refrigeration systems and their efficiency . Just take it from me , the colder it is outside , the lower becomes the co-efficient of efficiency which on a cold day can approach 1 , which is bloody useless . Octopus solution is to wack up the power input so that your electricity bill will bring tears to your eyes .

Grant Schapps was recently asked on GB news if heat pumps are any good. —–He replied– “IDON’T KNOW”. ———He was the Energy Security and Net Zero Minister at the time but he said “I DON’T KNOW”. ——-Yet these eco parasites (of all main parties) are prepared to fob these useless lumps of junk on us and lock us up if we refuse.

To the person who did the red thumbs down. ——Don’t you have the guts to say why you disagree with anything I said in that comment? You have no leg to stand on anyway as everything I said was 100% true.

Ditch the ban because it’s the popular policy? These corrupt, dirty b’stards do not give a toss about what is popular, what is right, what makes sense. Across the Western worlds virtually ALL politicians are either in on the WEF scam or do as they’re told by WEF anointees.

At this point in time it is incredulous that there are still people who believe this is incompetence or coincidence or that these f-wits really believe the world is boiling. Last Friday I was telling some friends at lunch about the UK energy bill and said similar legislation would be pushed here at some point as well. Zero Hedge had an article earlier this week on a newly passed German law that sounds similar in terms of making people incur tremendous debt for heating their homes according to the new regulations. I believe Canada has legislation of a similar bent. This is not coincidence, they really want to make sure as many people as possible will indeed own nothing – if you have to incur debt to make your home livable or, indeed, to even sell it, you will end up with only debt and no assets. Just what some feudal overlords would love.

This is after the intentional impoverishment of the world and assault on savings by shutting down for 2 years over a cold virus and then setting aside all the things we said we would never forget after WWII, to inject poison into people for no reason whatsoever other than to enrich big pharma and their whore politicians and to kill people.

Neil Oliver is right. It’s time for a revolution. “When a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despostism, it is their Right, it is their Duty, to throw off such government“

Brilliant post Jane.

Another point that needs making is that once the population is individually up to its neck in debt and controlled via CBDC we are no longer sovereign beings. People will be forced into the city ghettos. Disobey and you lose your food ration, disobey some more and you lose your sleeping rights, any more and it’s the gulag never to be seen again.

In our worst nightmares we have no idea how bad this is going to become.

It’s theoretically possible for all except one person to be in debt, but we’re looking at something like 90% being in debt, 9% slightly in the black and the remaining 1% owning the vast majority.

Would end very badly for the one percent.

Never leave a man with nothing to lose.

But yes, it’s entirely possible that the one + nine percent doesn’t understand this or is stupid enough to think it will be able to avoid the ensuing carnage.

I’m not. But I suspect I’m one of a relatively small number in the UK. But I couldn’t bail out my sons, who both have mortgages.

The only way for a revolution to start, or preferably for governments to ditch net zero (plus other woke) crap is to convince enough people to put enough pressure on politicians that they might change their mind. Whatever politicians are told by WEF or no matter how much they hold eco-crap views more than anything else they want to stay in power so will respond to enough pressure from voters.
Unfortunately this means, firstly, convincing people we’re not facing/in a climate crisis. Have you ever tried debating climate science online with an alarmist? It’s depressing and entirely predictable. Some people will respond to long comments stuffed full of evidence, explanations and links with a simple “utter drivel” or “this is a pack of lies” type of response. Other people will keep parroting MSM factoids such as the Arctic is warming twice as fast as the rest of the world (yes it is) without trying to explain how these things might be caused by CO2. Claiming that x extreme weather event is unprecedented are therefore due to CO2 is another favourite while showing no interest in data that shows these isn’t the case, or quoting data sets with a cherry picked start date that show a slight increase, e.g. in Atlantic hurricanes or US wildfires since the 1980’s but ignoring longer data sets that either show a decline or no long term trend. Repeating claims such as the MWP was local not global or CO2 doesn’t become saturated thus proving they haven’t looked at links provided or don’t understand them is another one. The list is almost endless.

Jane, excellent post and I have been on the case of this climate eco socialist scam since about 2007. I have seen all of this coming, but the new energy bill of 2023 really takes the biscuit. First comes the NUDGE and then comes the PUSH. They get all the low hanging fruit first and all the suckers that just accept a smart meter etc and then they come after the rest of us by threating us with jail time if we don’t get rid of the best central heating system ever and use 20 grand of our own money to get a lump of metal called a heat pump. The cure for the phony climate crisis is worse than the phony crisis itself but the unsuspecting public still don’t get it. Mainly because they are too busy with work and family life and will only be getting their news from the BBC or SKY at 6 pm who shield the eco parasites from scrutiny. Ordinary people assume these news channels are doing the investigative journalism for them but it turns out they are simply climate activists and useful idiots for the phony planet savers.

“Ditch the ban, Sunak.”

Fishy cannot do anything about this because he has no say in the matter. He is simply an order taker.

In the spirit of Thomas Crapper, I think heat pumps should now be referred to as Bernard Looneys.

older people, perhaps housebound pensioners, whose health is frail & need extra heating, could & probably will die from this.
perhaps for some in government this would be convenient.
the pension bill is too high, we are told.

how much has the Ukraine war cost?

Fishy has just agreed to give £1 billion to the Third World for “climate change,” yet people in this country will be dying from cold and hunger this winter.

India takes money from us. They just sent a Rocket into space, hardly the priority of a country that is impoverished is it? But let us not forget that Rishi belongs to a family of extremely wealthy Indian nationals, he has his next career to move to, how much do you want to bet it won’t be in this country.

I am watching Neil Oliver’s ‘Revolution’ video, 11:15 pm. Neil has clearly accepted that “our salvation will not arrive via the ballot box.” He is right though – the system is totally Fu##ed and we do indeed need a Revolution.

As some people claim, the cost of heat pumps may well fall if a lot more are produced. However is it the cost of the pump that puts people of or the cost of insulating their home so pumps have a chance of keeping them warm, the cost of replacing plumbing and radiators or the sheer impracticability of doing the required work in huge numbers of apartments, small terraces etc that’s putting people off?

The impoertant point here is that having radiators at all is engineering nonsense. Ait to air is the best and only way, yet it is difficult to install in existing buildings. Do they care, it is the words “heat pump” (which sounds as though something is free) which is vital, even if they will never be any good in the majority of homes?

I am hopeful that it will be the young who will not put up with this nonsense as they have been brought up on central heating, air con, always available hot water, fast food, taxi services & electronic devices & entertainment.
In order to keep up the propaganda & surveillance, they need us all online and ‘on phone ‘ which still requires energy.
We have also seen that the websites crash once too many people log on.
So I am not convinced they have really thought through the world they think they want us to have.

You can see what happens when our parasite politicians pander to UN phony planet savers rather than to their own citizens. They care not about us and our comfort and well being. Only about getting a little gold star on their lapel from the UN for pretending to save the planet. There are 21 million gas boilers in the UK providing us with the best heating system we ever had, and our pathetic politicians of all main parties will get rid of them and send us to jail if we refuse. This is a green totalitarian nightmare and most people I speak to have no clue this tyranny is even happening. OfCourse there is no tyranny greater than the one that terrorises us for our own good. At least the rapist and the murderer sometimes sleep.

I can already see a situation where I attend a boiler breakdown and find that the boiler can’t be repaired…

I can see that the definition of ‘beyond economic repair’ will undergo a drastic change. I also foresee that secondhand parts will become highly sought after and if the Gas Safe regulations forbid their use then more repairs will be completed by unregistered workers.

Good point. Politicians never seem to quite understand the law of unintended consequences. Keeping old boilers going with 2nd hand or grey imported parts is one way – the other way is to have a secondary electricity supply into the house that bypasses the meter. The going rate for that around here is £1000.

Before long, there will be gas explosions and fires because people are using black market domestic heating and car parts.

I hope this will be a cold, bleak winter. If it is, we’re going to see a lot of power outages. People will start dying in their homes, start burning their furniture to stay warm or star congregating in local public buildings because they have no heating. Once it becomes clear that Moloch/the state wants this and worse to become the norm, maybe people will start to snap out of their complacency!

Most lecky is generated by gas fired power stations. How is this stupid bullshit meant to “save the planet?” By moving the gas burning location? I fucking hate politicians. They should all be taken out the back and shot.
