A colonel has said he was forced to quit the Army after he was criticised for stating that “men cannot be women”. The Telegraph has the story.
Dr Kelvin Wright, 54, had been a Reservist commanding officer with 14 years’ unblemished service, including two tours in Afghanistan, before his “honour was attacked” with a transphobia complaint and an investigation he described as “hellish”.
In May, he shared a post on his private Facebook account from Fair Play for Women, a campaign group that works with governing bodies to preserve women’s sport for those born female, which consisted of a quote from Helen Joyce, a feminist campaigner backed by the author J.K. Rowling.
The quote, shared without any additional comment, said: “If women cannot stand in a public place and say ‘men cannot be women’, then we do not have women’s rights at all.”

This prompted a junior officer to warn him that his gender-critical views could be at odds with Ministry of Defence transgender policies, before what Dr. Wright calls the Army’s “LGBT champions” allegedly drew up a seven-page dossier about his “substandard behaviour” – which he was not allowed to see.
A formal Army investigation was opened in May that could have led to him being formally dismissed or censured under the Major Administrative Action process, through which he has been asked to make a statement.
Dr. Wright, who led a team of 60 troops in 306 Hospital Support Regiment alongside working as an NHS intensive care consultant, has this month felt forced to retire six years earlier than planned, slashing his total Army pension in the process.
He is being supported by the Free Speech Union, which has appointed an employment barrister to defend him, as the investigation is still ongoing.
Dr. Wright told the Telegraph:
This attack on my honour made my position completely untenable. I could no longer remain in an Army which treated its officers with such disrespect. What message does it send to women in the Army, that merely for noting the existence of women and women’s rights even a colonel can be placed under investigation? I therefore feel there is no other choice but to make this matter public. It makes you wonder who is running the Army: the Chief of the Defence Staff, or Stonewall?

The way in which Dr. Wright has been treated is absolutely disgraceful. The freedom to express your views in the public square is a fundamental human right that the British Army is supposed to be defending, not attacking. Continuing to hound him following his resignation just adds insult to injury. The Army should apologise, thank him for his service and close the case.

‘Diversity’, ‘Inclusion’, ‘Tolerance’. The fake dogma of the Fascist.
There is no diversity, no inclusion and zero tolerance for any outside of the state’s perverted religion. None.
Well said
Intolerance in the name of tolerance.
Just another day in Clown World, where sane folk are persecuted for stating biological facts. This article is about transgender people serving in the U.S forces. I mean, whatever next? Women being in control of their own reproductive systems??
”Hopewell was asked to write about the issue for Combat Stress magazine. He is a retired U.S. Army major, who was awarded the Bronze Star as a prescribing psychologist in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Under the Biden administration, the U.S. Army changed its rules in 2021 to allow those with gender dysphoria—confusion and distress over biological sex—to serve.
Gender identity would “no longer be a basis for involuntary separation or military discharge, denied reenlistment or continuation of service, or subjected to adverse action or mistreatment,” according to an explanation of the policy changes on the U.S. Army website.
As a neuropsychologist able to write prescriptions, Hopewell spent much of his career determining if soldiers were fit to serve in the Army.
That’s why he’s concerned, he said.
Though the military is allowing transgender personnel, it appears no studies have been done on how the prescription drugs they need to maintain a “gender transition” may impact combat readiness, he said.
As a general rule, Army soldiers who need more sophisticated health monitoring cannot be deployed on a mission to a place where medical access is limited, he said.
Medications that transgender patients need could even cause health and mental problems, he said. Testosterone, the male hormone used to help women appear more masculine, has been connected to “roid rage,” characterized by sudden outbursts of intense anger.
Transgender patients take “massive” doses of testosterone or estrogen, cross-sex hormones that disrupt the entire physical system of the body and the brain function, he said.”

Five years ago my daughter’s high school friend couldn’t join the Army because she had eczema. Sleepwalking also used to be a disqualifier. Somehow needing massive doses of hormones won’t affect combat readiness and is A-OK.
Given how the natural variation of hormones in a woman’s body, at the onset of menses, every month, at menopause, during pregnancy, post pregnancy etc can massively affect emotional state, ditto males during adolescence and in late middle age when testosterone levels reduce, putting a weapon into the hands of someone who is taking non natural levels of sex hormones strikes me as entirely foolish. Anyone who has raised teenagers will be familiar with the murderous rages and irrationality of both girls and boys during teenage years….I can only assume that trying to nullify one lot of hormones with another will produce similar effects but potentially orders of magnitude worse.
I mean, whatever next? Women being in control of their own reproductive systems?
To add another conjecture here: I think the reason for the contraceptive pill boom in the 20th century was mostly enable US occupation soldiers in Germany to have sex with local women without saddling themselves with lots half-German children.
Keep on controllling.
Of course females of reproductive age would be in control of their ability to get pregnant. Why wouldn’t they?
Not sure about you but certainly where I’m from it’s referred to as “taking personal responsibility” and it’s been a thing for quite some time now. Perhaps it’s time you moved into the 21st century with your views?
What you believe to be my views has unfortunately (or fortunately) little in common with what they actually are. To state them once for the record: I absolutely don’t care if women want to poison themselves in order to avoid pregnancies when having sex with principally changing partners and/ or because getting pregnant would negatively affect their career plans (or for whatever other reasons).
But this doesn’t change the fact that this is also a great advantage for men who’d like to have sex with principally changing partners nor does it change the fact that paid work is self-exploitation of people who have nothing else to offer than their ability to work and that someone else profits more from this than the person doing the work. Lastly, it also doesn’t change the trajectory towards ethnic suicide all (western) European peoples are on. In the 1950s, when the German pension system was changed from being basically a form of poor relief to provide OAPs with decent means of living, Konrad Adenauer famously quipped
Kinder kriegen die Leute immer. (People will always get children).
when the question how to pay for that came up. Turns out they don’t and hence, people of my age or younger will have to work longer for less pension than previous generations if they ever get any at all (I certainly won’t, but for different reasons).
Your entire first paragraph demonstrates very effectively what a piss poor, derogatory attitude you have towards women. I suggest you go away and educate yourself. No further input from myself is necessary. Good riddance!
Do you read texts you comment on? Doesn’t seem to be the case.
Taking some substance which cause some part of the body to malfunction is technically a poisoning and not an attitude of mine. There’s surely no reason why people who don’t have sex would need to take contraceptives and postponing pregnancies until a convenient time in one’s professional career is reportedly anything but uncommon.
And please spare me the I cannot be arsed to argue in favour of my opinions! bit. If you cannot be arsed to do that, I certainly can’t be arsed to care about what they are. After all, as the saying goes. opinions are just like assholes. Everybody has one.
What an absolute disgrace this country and its governance has become.
The long march through the institutions for all to see the results of. The twisted perversions of which should shock people to the core if they were paying attention..
Here’s reasonable explanation of what’s happening for those who haven’t delved into Gramsci’s long march..

”the Army’s “LGBT champions” allegedly drew up a seven-page dossier about his “substandard behaviour” – which he was not allowed to see.”
Whether it is this soldier or Farage with his bank account, people are drawing up reports and making comments on other people and the people concerned are not being shown these reports and comments. This is the stuff of tyranny and oppression, 1984 was supposed to be a warning not a handbook on how to do it!
These decisions made by our increasingly disreputable institutions are having effects as devastating as those of any judge in a court of law. And yet these decisions are not subject to cross examination, scrutiny, witness statements or any sort of fact or reality check.
The Magna Carta states;
The right to a trial by jury dates back centuries, even before it was enshrined in law by the Magna Carta which stated that a freeman should not be imprisoned without the lawful judgment of his peers.
These actions by the army over this guys statement of the **!!**!! obvious, these actions by the Banks over Farage’s accounts are completely counter to our rights as set out in the Magna Carta. The fact that our MPs are supine on this issue indicates how low we have come, I am afraid we do not need an election, we need a revolution.
A message to the FSU: You should be heading for another outcome than dispense dosh & continue as before. Anything else is meaningless. These people will gladly spend other people’s money on buying those who cannot otherwise be silenced and in most case, their victims will not be so fortunate to have any support. Just think of teenagers trying to escape from oppressive parents by joining the army who will then meet oppressive superiors pointing out that their chances of success will be grealy increased if the ‘agree’ to a little operation.
NB: I have no information backing up this less-than-pleasant conjecture. However, I’d be greatly suprised if it wasn’t true. The junior officer mentioned here is junior to Dr Wright. He’s going to be senior to the people he’s planning to prey on.
Nowadays a “junior officer” is likely to be in his or her 20s, probably a graduate, therefore has been through compulsory indoctrination in school up to age 18 and 3 years more in university. I fear that a large proportion of that age group thinks all the woke stuff in true. I suspect that a junior officer with ambition, but no particular talent, may spot opportunities for climbing the greasy pole of promotion by championing this sort of diversity edict. It will destroy what’s left of cohesion and morale in the army; how can you be confident your mates have your back if you live in fear of being snitched on for a risque quip? Voila, an army with no cojones.
We are being transformed into a Fascist or Communist State before our eyes. Disagree with the Cultural Marxist / State’s Agenda, and dare to say so, and you will be cancelled.
One step short of the gas chambers or gulag.
