“Triple threat Arcturus variant already in U.K.,” reads the headline in the Express. It cites virologist Dr. Lennard Lee to outline three particular concerns as the latest variant spreads: vulnerable patients, the impact of long Covid, and disruption to schools. Lee also claims we face multiple Covid waves every year.
Despite conceding that vaccines have not stopped transmission, Lee emphasises the importance of making better vaccines as the virus evolves.
The Express has the story.
As of April 11th, 66 cases [of the Arcturus Covid variant] had been detected in the U.K., with the figure likely to have risen significantly since then, Dr. Lee acknowledged, while highlighting three key areas – vulnerable patients, the impact of long Covid, and disruption to schools.
The Independent SAGE adviser and Academic Clinical Lecturer in Medical Oncology at the University of Oxford told Express.co.uk he and colleagues were monitoring Arcturus carefully.
He explained: “It’s got new mutations on it which allow it to spread slightly better, not greatly better, but slightly better, and it has driven the recent surge across India. What we’re seeing at the moment is slightly different in terms of what it looks like in humans. There’s early data showing that it affects the eyes and it causes conjunctivitis.
“What it really points to is that this virus is clever, and it is continuing to evolve with time. The tricky thing is that what’s happening is viruses are emerging around the world and they spread very, very quickly nowadays, so they come to our shores very quickly.” …
Emphasising the importance of vaccine technology to keep pace with the disease, he concluded: “The issue is that first-generation vaccines have not stopped transmission, and you can still get Covid and pass it on.
“Vaccines are our tools and we need to keep improving them as the virus evolves too. Ultimately, we want to try and minimise these waves which keep landing on our shores and we have to hope that it continues to be mild like Arcturus, but also have the tools ready if it were to change.”
When will this nonsense and fearmongering end? In case Dr. Lee hadn’t noticed, the majority of excess deaths this year are from non-Covid causes.

What kind of idiots do they take us for..?
Conjunctivities is an inflammation of the eye which is so unimportant and common-place that the NHS just states that it can be caused by (unqualified) infections.
In February 2020 (so just at the start of things) had a not too nasty cough, but then got conjunctivitis in both eyes, which I have never had before or since. So think now it may have been covid.
You think you had the new strain which is causing conjunctivitis 3 years before it appeared. Now I know you are fooling.
Apparently the early strains did also cause pinkeye. Or so I have heard.
Respiratory viruses often do – rhinovirus particularly.
I may have had the original strain in Feb 2020 and also again the following month after skiing in Northern Italy but of course there were no tests then. Because of this I may well be immune and have not been jabbed, and certainly have not had any new strain. In mid 2020 articles were published that conjunctivitis was a symptom
Yawn
Yawn.
Bob: “Now that’s a sight for sore eyes!”
Gertrude: ”What is? conjunctivitis.com?
Sorry, not sorry..
Ones which will be scared witless into having their umpteenth bioweapon booster, can’t throw all of them away…
So what?
Sorry DS, you can do much better than this. Non-story.
Yes it is unutterably dull now. Statistically, as a cat owner, I am way more likely to get ill from toxoplasmosis whilst gardening without gloves and excavating a cat turd.* Therefore I don’t so much call bullshit on this article as ”cat shit!” And while I’m feeling potty-mouthed, this Covidian, Dr Lee, can go choke on a bag of dicks. Normal people have way better things to ruminate on and fill their heads with than which sci-fi named lurgy they’re gonna not die from next.
*Gardening sans gloves is never a good idea, even if it is more effective for pulling up weeds. As I found out to my detriment.
As a non-cat owner I really hate that it’s deemed acceptable for someone else’s cat to crap in your veggie plot but not for a dog owner to not pick up after their dog.
Even worse was the little bu**er dug the newly planted on leeks up to do so.
In legal terms, dogs are your property, but cats are wild animals. You can’t be responsible for what your cat does.
Thanks, I learned something today.
Does this scale to panthers?
Thanks for that, still doesn’t make it any nicer!
Is it wrong that I’m 50% laughing while 50% sympathising with your post?
Apparently orange peel is a good deterent for cats and you can buy cat repellent spray too, but no idea how effective these are.
, not sure..? ) appear to find them a delicacy. Even broken eggshells didn’t work! I think we must have the 007 variety over here as opposed to your common or garden type..
Talking of repellents, if you have any tips for stopping slugs eating sunflowers I’d be most grateful. My favourite flower and I cannot grow them for love nor money. The flaming slug community ( or is it
Get yourself a hedgehog they’re good for snails and slugs.
I got angry with a neighbours cat which kept s**ting on my drive. I tried letting the dog out which worked to a point. But we’ve just got two new cats which seems to have got rid of the blighter. Unfortunately they’re using the veggie patch as a kitty litter now. You can never seem to win.
Nextdoor’s cat wondered into our house in the summer and shit on our floor. He’s sick and the owner won’t take him to the vet and has chronic diarrhoea, so there was a few pools of liquid poo on my floor and even on my yoga mat. Kiddo stepped in it. I was well pissed off but he’s always looking for food, poor thing.
I used to give him a second breakfast because I felt sorry for him as he’s all skin and bones and constantly ravenous, so I stopped encouraging him after that. Now he just shits in our garden.
Mogs, dig a hole near your sunflowers and place a plastic cup / receptacle in the hole and then fill with beer / lager, or even at a pinch Bud Light. Slugs love it and drown themselves in the elixir or Bud Light.
Sorted.
Bud Light! LOL Thanks for the tip.
Contact a local chimney sweep and get some soot. Spread it around your seeds and it will stop the little blighters.
Also it works on any veg/fruit and is good for the soil.
If you can’t get hold of soot then ash left over from a barbie might help.
Ooh that’s handy as we have a fire so plenty of ashes still in there. I’ll have a go, thanks.
Love you too Mogs!
Copper gardening tools apparently as they don’t disturb the magnetic field of the earth like steel tools do.
Have a look into electroculture.

Is is possible to strip this covaccinologist of his Ph.D. for the completely idiocy of claiming that viruses can be clever and that endless mutations of everyhing which reproduces would be something other than the norm? Or can we perhaps develop vaccine against him? Maybe something shot out of a metal tube with a wooden handle which would effectively stop him from spreading more nonsense in future?
A tip: if you hear a sentence starting with “Early data shows that…”, you can stop listening.
There are several such signs. “Studies show that …”, “Evidence is growing that …”, and so on. Time to compile a list.
“Experts believe”
Five waves? I’m feeling C-sick already.
We’ve had anti-virals that work since the start of the pandemic. No need for any expensive vaccines.
“What it really points to is that this virus is clever, – it has a PhD in virology from Davos University and it is continuing to evolve with time. The tricky thing is that what’s happening is viruses are emerging around the world and they spread very, very quickly nowadays, so they come to our shores very quickly.” … via the daily scheduled RNLI taxi service.”
That’s better.
“it has a PhD in virology from Davos University”
Comic genius!
Thanks tof.
I haven’t heard from Mike Yeadon for a long time
He is the voice of reason on this stuff
Where can I find him
Telegram, has a shared channel with a couple of other people, one of whom is Robin Monotti.
Yes Telegram. I follow the good Doctor on there.
This is the first wave of bolleaux then is it?
The UK Coronavirus Cancer Programme maintains its relevance as long as COVID does. Whether intended or not, there are some benefits to be had by Dr Lee and his colleagues.
Beware the scary new scariant that causes…. *checks notes* PINKEYE.
These two crack me up! This is what Dr McHonk-Honk and Monkey Boy think about The Threat of Arcturus;

Presumably we can anticipate five waves of scaremongering every year from now on..
No matter that everyone can see with their own eyes that the ‘vaccines’ are useless, and that Covid doesn’t kill anyone reasonably healthy (even if it ever did).
Sadly people actually believe propaganda more than what they see with their own eyes.
They can wave all they fu***ing want to…this lady’s not for waving….,LOL!
So what? Isn’t it quite normal, except that it was called something else? Perhaps he should study a little history about the old (and defunct) Common Cold Unit before investing in the pharma trade about using a vaccination technique.
Ok.
I’m evolving from a mildly f**ked off human to an angry f**ked off human.
Do people still believe this nonsense. When’s the variant that has symptoms like athletes foot coming around because my feet are as itchy as hell and the LFT has just told me I have something. I’ll have to put a mask on so my children can go to school on Monday. Oh no I need not bother the w**king teachers are on strike.

No s**t Sherlock.
Seriously who gives a F***.
He’s a cancer researcher with an interest in cancer vaccines and research in the context of cancer and coronavirus. Keeping the COVID and vaccine-fix-all narrative is not going to be bad for funding.
Especially since a recent study showed there was no hope of finding the ‘magic bullet’ that would cure all cancers; because they were all so different – maybe like viruses??!! In spite of al the billions given to cancer research??!! He’s just worried he’ll have to find a real job.
Don’t understand!
If everyone’s jabbed why should it matter?
Millions of jabs later and, you can still get covid?? What a bunch of f%£#ing idiots they take us for!
The so called vaccines are completely useless and also very dangerous!
Ignore all this, they are trying to keep the scam alive.
