Welcome to this week’s Weekly Sceptic – where Toby and Nick discuss how Liz Truss’s downfall was more to do with the Bank of England, pension funds and LDIs than her ‘low tax/high growth’ policies. They talk about Rishi’s reshuffle – with Kemi Badenoch having been given the larger role of International Trade and Business. Toby recalls an uncharacteristically funny story by Stewart Lee about Grant Shapps – who was also reshuffled to the somewhat oxymoronic Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.
Nick and Toby also discuss the pathetic examples of Dominic Raab’s so called ‘bullying’ of civil servants (a.k.a. holding staff to high standards, like spelling correctly).
Nick and Toby discuss whether the Grammys were satanic or just naff. Toby posits that back in the day, David Bowie dressing as a woman (whilst actually being incredibly talented) was genuinely countercultural, compared to the low quality musical output from ‘brave’ woke performers who are simply swimming with the tide. Nick suggests that maybe Elvis’s hips were to blame and Mary Whitehouse was right…

Birdwatch makes a return with Matt Walsh lighting up Twitter with what used to be a totally normal statement. And when the Guardian tweeted out for women to share examples of online misogyny, they got a lot of answers that they weren’t expecting.
Nick discusses the ongoing saga of Andrew Tate and his poignant posts from inside Romanian prison. And a ‘victim’ of Tate speaks out.
This week’s second sponsor is Dan Gaskin at Crest Mortgages (0116 5023 000).
Nick is joined by Dr. Will Jones to discuss the week’s best stories in the Daily Sceptic.
This week’s last sponsor is The Jasmine Sari by Philip Tucker, available on Amazon.
Peak Woke returns again!
