In this week’s episode of London Calling, James and I talk about the respective sizes of their Christmas trees, the parties and dinners we’ve been to in the run-up to the holidays, our favourite Christmas movies (Requiem For a Dream vs His Girl Friday), how we both intend to spend Boxing Day engaging in leisure pursuits (hunting for James, football for me), Jeremy Clarkson’s Game of Thrones fantasy about Meghan Markle, whether climate activists believe in their own rhetoric or are just using global warming as an excuse to take away our liberty, what 2023 has in store for us, and, in Culture Corner, the critical reception for Avatar: The Way of Water, whether James Cameron is ‘woke’ or ‘awake’, the unsatisfying last episode of Tokyo Vice, the gripping Volcano: Rescue from Whakaari and The English, a slightly odd series on the BBC starring Emily Blunt which I intend to persevere with between Christmas and New Year.
