Susan Michie, the Communist member of SAGE known as ‘Stalin’s Granny’ because she once smuggled hard-left pamphlets into a Labour Party conference in a baby’s pram, is once again demanding another lockdown. Although, come to think of it, I don’t recall her ever saying it’s safe enough to come out from under our beds. MailOnline has more.
A Communist-supporting SAGE advisor has claimed that “lameduck” Tories will “sit on their hands” and ”let Covid rip” as virus cases are set to hit 350,000 every day next week.
Susan Michie, the Professor of Health Psychology at University College London, warned new variants that are “even more infectious” will lead to unnecessary deaths and hospitalisations.
More than 2.7 million Britons were infected with Covid last week and the Office for National Statistics (ONS) weekly infection survey found up to one in 16 people in the worst-hit parts of the U.K. were carrying the virus in the week ending June 29th as cases rose nationally by about a fifth.
Professor Michie told the Mirror: “We don’t have a public health policy for Covid right now and if we don’t act, we’ll get variants that are even more infectious and these will lead to increased hospitalisations and deaths.
“The number of people with long Covid will increase significantly beyond the current two million and the country will be continuously disrupted with some sectors in danger of grinding to a standstill in the Autumn.
“The Government’s policy seems to be, ‘Shut your eyes and let it rip.’ But the NHS is on its knees and public health experts, SAGE and Independent SAGE have been predicting this since July last year, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise.”
Worth reading in full – or not, as the highest-rated commentator below the line points out: “Her outlandish claims are not even remotely borne out by reality. It’s now just a cold. Time that bitter old Communist retired now.”

Yeah this let them eat cake air head looks frighteningly oppressed. If she was so bothered about the women of the world she’d publicise the behaviour of hubby billy boy who was poking teenage girls, but she’s signed an NDA so as to get a bigger divorce settlement.
A excellent read, thank you. And if I may; if you live within a map you are constrained by the scale of your perceived environs, whereas if you live within a terrain the constraints are generally the ones you make yourself.
“Individuals do not have agency, because abstract representations – signs and symbols – cannot be imagined to have agency in the first place. They are objects to be moved about, designed, improved, deleted: not left to their own devices, because the ‘having of one’s own devices’ is itself an alien concept where life is understood only for what it symbolises.”
This is the key paragraph. Basically Melinda is so full of her own importance and so convinced that her understanding of the world is correct that she sees humanity as a blob to be manipulated as she and her ilk see fit. The lack of intelligence and learning on display is awesome. She hasn’t got a clue about our history and even if she knew a little would fail to understand or interpret it. Her husband Billy has the same outlook. He’s not very bright and that’s being generous but the wealth he has manoeuvred his way has allowed him to get away with murder, literally. And so we have Agenda 2030 which takes dehumanisation to its apogee – the individuals making up humanity are nothing but chattels, markers on a board to be moved or disposed of as our “overlords” see fit.
How on earth have such stupid, genuinely thick people managed to accrue so much power?
Rhetorical. Money, I know.
Inherited money, to be precise. That’s an important point. The bill’n’melindaverse is composed of people who seek to build businesses to further their careers. People who have to work because they need to pay rent and utilities bills, need to pay for enough food to sustain themselves and need to pay for all the other stuff one happens to need to live a normal life like clothes and shoes don’t exist for them because that’s entirely outside of their sphere of experience. They were born free of material worries and have remained in this way for all of their lives.
Another brilliant example of this would be The Meghan & the Beardo™. I bet she’s honestly convinced to be an oppressed minority. And bricklayers or shop assistants, well, these belong to the lower orders which only exist to serve us.
Gates came from a well off family but they were not super rich like he is – he saw an opportunity and took it – right place, right time, strongly suspect some financial help and legal advice from his dad who I believe was/is a lawyer, and he got lucky knowing Paul Allen who was probably technically good (though it’s a bit weird that the people who developed Unix, arguably a far superior operating system, did not get anything like as rich, ditto many others who made a huge contribution to the development of IT – Ted Codd, Vint Cerf, Donald Knuth spring to mind. Von Neumann and Turing too, earlier on.
David Cutler would very much beg to differ in this respect and there’s an old legend how Windows NT got its name:
I had not heard of Dave Cutler.
I/we always found UNIX more performant, reliable and easier to automate via scripting though probably Windows has caught up.
Gates is little more than a dodgy software salesman whose products are not fit for purpose until all of us have tested them for him, at great expense to us. Not so much now but you had to pay to upgrade,
I think Excel is pretty good, and we’ve found MS SQL SERVER better to use than Oracle DB at least for our application. But the quality overall has been patchy. The File Explorer GUI is dreadful.
It is reckoned no more than 5% of wealth is inherited, and history shows that wealth is squandered in a generation, two at most.
They (well Mr Gates at least) are “smart” but not wise.
She seems to me yet another of what Sowell calls “the anointed” (self anointed of course).
Gates career began when his mother negotiated a supply contract with IBM for an OS of the IBM PC. He then cheaply bought the rights to something called QDOS (for Quick and Dirty Operating System) from some programmer who had written it basically for his own amusement and henceforth, got paid a fixed percentage rent for every PC sold in the world. This is still very much the case today because outside of a niche of specialist retailers, it’s impossible to buy a general-purpose computer without also paying the so-called Microsoft tax.
One doesn’t need to be smart to become stinking rich in this way.
I didn’t realise it was his mum. If that’s the case, she’s the smart one.
Perhaps cunning is a better word?
Yes I think it applies in this case.
As Adam Smith put it:-
The man of system, on the contrary, is apt to be very wise in his own conceit; and is often so enamoured with the supposed beauty of his own ideal plan of government, that he cannot suffer the smallest deviation from any part of it.
He goes on to establish it completely and in all its parts, without any regard either to the great interests, or to the strong prejudices which may oppose it. He seems to imagine that he can arrange the different members of a great society with as much ease as the hand arranges the different pieces upon a chess–board.
He does not consider that the pieces upon the chess–board have no other principle of motion besides that which the hand impresses upon them; but that, in the great chess–board of human society, every single piece has a principle of motion of its own, altogether different from that which the legislature might chuse to impress upon it.
Thanks JXB, much appreciated and very appropriate
Yeah, I really wouldn’t be reading too much into what somebody who’s completely out of touch with the real world, a billionaire and has been married to Bill Gates for donkey’s years has to say on these matters, to be honest. And what the heck are ”built-in networking opportunities” anyway? Something that only males are born with and completely out of reach for females with a functioning brain? Are females born with an in-built ability to bake a superior Victoria sponge cake? I think her statement is insulting to both men and women actually. But all of this constant male vs female and obsessive fixation on the differences between the sexes is seriously tedious and has been for a long time.
Alas, Dr McGrogan, there’ll be no ”getting back to sanity” as far as I can see. Not when you look at the state of students and young people nowadays and their appalling attitudes full stop, not just in this context. See this short clip of this ”oppressed” young, brown girl. Your failings or imagined hardships are always somebody else’s fault, it’s just a shame you cannot back up your assertions with actual examples and consequently look really, really dim;

Kevin Kline look alike. Divorced Kill Gates over his affairs and Epstein and his island.
Funny how there is no Fake News investigations or declarations on that.
I could care less what this rather fugly has to say about anything. A privilege snot telling me how to live. Flock off.
She or He was also a willing accomplice during the Rona fascism. She smirked and giggled when Kill promised Scamdemic 2.0. Witch.
I am sure that men designed mines, steel works, building sites etc especially to exclude women
Women worked down coal mines (in the UK) and this was considered a great scandal, such that in the 19th Century legislation was passed to prohibit women going down the pit.
Perhaps we should send them down again. It is curious the ‘man’s world’ that excludes women doesn’t include all those dirty, arduous, low pay occupations where women are ‘under-represented’.
No demands for more women on the bin lorries or scouring out the sewers, just nice, clean, professional high pay jobs where one doesn’t chip one’s nail varnish or heavens forbid, break a nail!
The World built by men.
And especially the marvellous inventions of Ethnic European Men, who gave them to the rest of humanity. As someone said,
“The world is a better place
because of the White Man.”
Funny really. I’ve been saying exactly this (not as articulately though) for years on this very same site. The same people posting beneath the line here, agreeing with the logic of this article, are the very same people who have basically said I should shut up and be quiet. That I shouldn’t rock the boat. I will say it again – the boat must be rocked.
Feel free to rock the boat as much as you want, and not be surprised if it becomes unstable.
“What Gates meant with her comment seemed to be that men have created a working environment in which ‘systems’ have been ‘built’ which facilitate the career aspirations of young men as opposed to women. “Men,” she tells us, “have these built-in networking opportunities… the person who says ‘I’ll introduce you to that person who’ll introduce you to that person who will help fund your business’.” Women, she goes on, do not have this “support” and hence we are “sending them into a broken system”.”
For anyone to establish themselves in any “system” takes time, persistence, competence, luck and so on. Consider also the phrase “it’s not what you know but who you know” etc. Anyone complaining about the “system” must first explain what is preventing them taking part on their own terms within the boundaries of the law. “Equality of outcome” is a more corrupt arrangement of the system compared to having the choice of interacting with entrenched entities.
“It is also because the foolishness and misguidedness is an example of a broader trend which I, with no exaggeration, believe threatens the very foundations of a free society itself.”
ie. Socialism
A problem is that traditional female work has been denigrated and only traditional male work has value.
Instead traditional female and male work should have equal value.
In the past, until recently historically, men worked long hours with low pay, or were in the army where they could get their arms or legs blown or cut off and be disabled the rest of their lives or been killed..
