A TALE OF TWO CITIES - WITHIN ONE

1. Hidden Paris

Last night we went out for drinks and dinner to a bar-restaurant that is not supposed to be open. All 3 of us: mom, pop and little dog. I went about an hour or two earlier with the little dog to have a couple of beers and shoot-the-breeze with the landlord, as I am wont to do, and the little dog loves being out in cafes and bars. The Landlord was a true gent in fine form and even had his mandolin out providing live entertainment.

Has anybody looked into coronavirus transmission via mandolin playing? I think they should. Sounds like a job for someone at Imperial College.

A couple of hours later my good lady showed up, the landlord put down the mandolin and started playing the full Dire Straits album "Brothers in Arms", and the wine started flowing over snacks and then a platter off the grill.

Has anybody looked into coronavirus transmission while listening to Dire Straits? I think they should. Sounds like a job for someone at Imperial College.

Nicola Sturgeon will be horrified to learn we shared the same serving spoons.

In banter with fellow rebels at a neighbouring table, I noted that "tabac" bars and shops are still allowed to sell cigarettes. Does the French government believe cigarettes are less harmful than coronavirus? And what about booze? As our neighbour said while rolling his paper-clad tobacco stick between his fingers: "if they try to stop people smoking or drinking, the 5th republic will not last 5 days".

After a few such hours of merrymaking, we stumbled home, with the dog definitely knowing the way. The tree and sacks of decoration lay waiting, but we decided that a night cap was a better idea and the tree party can be tomorrow.

2. Official Paris

As the shops opened yesterday (and I could finally get my phone repaired - as the government had ordained phone shops "non-essential"), today I decided to visit a nearby shopping centre just outside the city limits.

At this time of the year it is usually a joy to behold. A veritable explosion of festive decoration and tremendously cheerful atmosphere.

You can guess what I found ...

I have seen more cheerful cemeteries. The management had done their best, with the decorations and music, but this was a haunted cavern where most of the lights came from the ceiling fixtures, illuminating shuttered shops.

Most shops were closed, including the one I wanted. There was hardly anyone around and I felt sorry for the staff in those few open stores, as they paced pack and forth wondering what is the point?

One of the little treats I usually have at this place is a big Starbucks coffee and especially with their Christmas blend. (Not so many Starbucks around Paris, with the ubiquitous French cafe culture.) It was closed. I hoped at least it would be open for takeaway, but no. Standing in front of the miserable sight, I momentarily thought of getting a fire-pick-axe thingy and smashing the shutters open, but decided against it since it would be a pointless exercise as I do not know how to operate the coffee machines inside.

Probably saddest of all was the Christmas grotto with trees and Santa's throne. Say what you want about how cheesy and commercialised such activities are, but it was singularly depressing to see it all built, and all but haunted. Where are all the children queuing up to have a picture on Santa's knee and walk away with a cheap little toy? I would prefer cheesy commercialisation any day to this misery.

I did a brief tour, barely 10 minutes, and walked out.

---

Those weak, dishonest politicians who have visited this destruction on people's lives have to pay for what they have done, and continue to do.

On 16 February this year, just as the panic was taking off, the French minister of health had his title changed from "Minister of Health" to "Minister of Health and Solidarity" to try and build up the herd-mentality that governments want (but never mention any other kind of herd please). He is only 40 years old, just 2 years younger than Hancock. The two of them should certainly be around long enough to be called to book for what they have done.

A plague on their houses. A real one, that is.

Now ... time for a glass of cheap bubbly and putting up the tree.

Thanks teebs.
A lovely post but also so sad.
Please keep the reports coming.
I met one unmasked person on my brief visit to the shops today.i cant believe so many people still dont get it. It's so sad walking amongst zombies who are so used to the face nappies it's now part of them so they walk in the car parks ect with them. On a visit to the supermarket two elderly ladies were having a rest on some seats inside ( very rare) both had pulled their masks down. How ironic clearly the rona was going to leave them alone as they were just resting and no doubt going to don their masks once stood up. I also took note of the pathetic plastic screens that somehow people feel safe behind cos the rona is clearly not clever enough to go under the large gap or around the sides and open space behind them and the next till. I popped my head around to chat with the shop assistant unmasked. I dont think anyone got the irony....

Greetings Teebs !
In the Thread ' Boris Must Go ' Nov 25th I thought it relevant to post a part-list of People who've been arrested ( W.W. ) as Boris is on that List ( Bojo ! ) btw So is David Cameron ( not a prob for me his name is misspelt )

In this post you write of Edouard Philippe , He's also on the list. No 65 I cannot copy / paste from that sheet, but if you're curious here's the link :-
>>> https://www.humorousmathematics.com/post/mid-2020-gitmo-update-arrests-indictments-executions <<< Also on the list at 69 is Macron... Sarko is NOT on the list ; perhaps the French White Hats ( https://conseilnational.blogspot.com/ ? ) & ( https://conseilnational.fr/ )
are going to take him down ? (Then afterwards , Treason ? ) Macron can be tried for treason against France ,if his Theft of € 90B A Year is proven...
Ar David Icke says , do with it what you will ! ! !
if you're further curios ; >>> https://www.monkeywerxus.com/video-blogs <<< ( OverWatch ) talks people thru Flight Analysis & Movement of Prisoners, to Gitmo . Black Sites / other known ' Interrogation sites ... For example , on of his subscribers pointed out ; a Flight returning from Gitmo , going Dark , and he tied it into Ghislaine Maxwell... Most of the Children , Young People have now been rescued W.W. but E.U. dragged their feet, 'cos the cabal were more entrenched there....

I believe this list to be accurate , Ties_ib toall I've seen over the last two years , of Following Field McConnell , T.C. Holmseth , Gene 'Decode '& others !

All the very best ,

Music producer beaten up by 4 Paris policemen for not wearing a mask in the street
https://news.sky.com/story/emmanuel-macron-says-video-of-paris-police-beating-black-man-is-shameful-for-all-of-us-12144566 Fortunately they were caught on a security camera; if they hadn't been they would likely have got away with it.
