Has anyone come back from an amber list country recently

Interested in what type of questions they ask.

In other words, can they be answered on your mobile whilst out and about or by someone else.

There was an article in the Telegraph several months ago from someone told to isolate (not sure whether because of a positive test or because of travel). She got a call on her mobile while in the supermarket. The background noise was low enough for her to be able to say "Yes, I am at home". (She only answered because she had already missed about four calls, so thought she had better not leave it too long.) The response was "Then why aren't you answering your doorbell?".

Lesson: the jobsworths will use any tactic they can to catch you out. For the good of the people, you are to be monitored and controlled all the way.

In my case it was solely advice on isolating, no intrusive questions.

Two close relatives of mine returned from an amber list country last Saturday afternoon. They received a knock on their door at 9:30am the next day (Sunday morning) and have been called at least once (and once twice) a day every day since. One of them tested positive on their Day 2 test and now has to isolate for 10 days from the date of the test, but no longer has to take the Day 8 test. They travelled together and so the other one was contacted two days later to be told "you have been in contact with someone who recently tested positive for Covid. You must isolate for 10 days from the last time you were in contact with that person." No really, it says that. That message will have been sent to everyone on their plane. Utterly bonkers.

In general, they seem to call on a mobile first, and if they get no answer to that they call the landline. The callers simply read from a script, and seem pretty clueless, but they are calling every day (there have been no more home visits, possibly because they have so far managed to take every call).

God, I hate this police state. But the sad fact is that based on their experience, you can expect a call every single day.

Oh, and I would add that the positive test is a classic false positive. My relative had Covid just over 6 weeks ago whilst abroad and fully recovered. They obviously have no symptoms now. The PCR test has just managed to pick up a tiny scrap of dead RNA.

And of course, despite that, there is simply no means of challenge or appeal to that result. It is treated as absolutely correct. Madness.

Surely if you're self isolating/potentially infections you could refuse to answer the door? Or is that too logical for the jobsworths
