Right - so we booked our Holiday in January, before the Great Bullshit was ramped up.

We need to enter Berlin on 2 August. Family of 2 Adults (one vaccinated (we know no comment needed ) one adult recovered and children aged 10 & 13.

It appears we face the following; but if anyone can help or share an experience I would be grateful.

All have to PCR to leave ( Germany accept the Lateral Flow ). All have to PCR to come back. All have to PCR day 2 and day 8. Correct ?

Actually while in Germany; vaccinated are free. 10 year old is free. Unvaccinated and 13 year old in individual quarantine for 5 days, with test to release. Correct ?

This feels fucking insane. We were there last August and only the officious tosser at Heathrow on return gave us any noise at all.

Is there any prospect of U.K. / Germany dropping any of this bull before 2 August ?

We have tried multiple times daily to speak to British Airways, they keep dropping the call as they are too busy. The whole thing is soul destroying.

You can check the conditions for travelling to Germany here:
https://www.bmi.bund.de/SharedDocs/faqs/DE/themen/bevoelkerungsschutz/coronavirus/reisebeschraenkungen-grenzkontrollen/IV-reisebeschraenkungen-im-aussereuropaeischen-luft-und-seeverkehr-einreisen-aus-drittstaat/welche-reisebeschraenkungen-bestehen-im-aussereuropaeischen-luft-und-seeverkehr.html

It's not good news because if you are going on holiday this is not an allowed reason. It's a bit surprising that this has not been updated since the visit of Merkel to Johnson because the announcement was that Germany would go back on the old rules of 5 day quarantine. It obviously hasn't done that but hopefully this might change soon (unless Merkel and Johnson were not telling the truth). As far as I can see the present rule doesn't give any credit for vaccine or recovered (for the UK at present). You more or less have to be going there to return to your residence or for a critical job.
If you have "recovered" the previous rule was that you had to have had Covid no more than 6 months previously.
