The problem I have is that the number of 'cases' is not the number of people who are ill because of this virus. A positive PCR test is not a diagnosis of Covid-19. The number of cases also includes a very high incidence of false positives due to the complete unsuitability of the PCR test which picks up scraps of dead common cold virus and any other of the 200 or so coronaviruses in circulation. If Hancock were to stop testing people who are not sick the problem would disappear overnight.

Being angry is exhausting and destructive. The near future looks grim but take hope in the many brave people on this site prepared to speak out about the futility and destruction of lockdowns. The most important thing is to defend our right to free speech. Eventually more people will realise we have to live with Covid and to fight for our democratic rights. We need to work together to help build up our resilience to survive difficult times ahead. Stay strong and believe in yourself.

Whilst it is frustrating and slow painstaking work, l believe we have to build our case, methodically and peacefully one brick at a time.It is a slow drip effect that will slowly but surely burst the dam.

It's tough right now. I have to take it at face value to stay sane. We elected the guys running things because we thought they'd do a good job, if they do a bad job, we'll have a chance on Thursday 2 May 2024, three years hence, to get rid of them. Don't get angry now, get even then!

They did just got spooked by the sudden exponential surge in cases, and now they do have exaggerated fears, but cases are starting to peak now. One week from now and things should start to look very different. Look at the data In the zoe symptom checker, the number of new cases has declined every day this year, it halved in 1 week, that means we are at the mid winter peak. It is even more pronounced in Wales. Hancock has been doing the Sunday rounds, Sophie Ridge, and Andrew Marr telling everybody he's going to lift the restrictions once the cases dry up, and they are already starting to, see table below. There is a very sudden deceleration underway. Speedstick is right, once it is undeniable, we will be in a good place for getting these restrictions lifted in Spring. Until then it's tough sledding!

I can't find any data that looks anything like this trend. Can you advise?

to get this data, look at the plot here.

https://covid.joinzoe.com/data#levels-over-time

read the data points off the points in the plot with your mouse, do the arithmetic subtract prev day from each day and you get the table of daily changes above. You can actually see the trend starting to curve. It's turning mate, I feel it in my bones!
