Hospital admissions for those with a positive test (either on arrival or in hospital diagnosis) has fallen in the last day reported. With most of the small decline seen in London. While too early to suggest the worse is over in the capital. The drop in admissions is likely in part reflecting the decline in people reporting symptoms at the end of December which is also now starting to be seen in the official figures.

Unfortunately it is probably too early for the latest Lockdown to have impacted at all on this so thankfully scientists are calling for stricter measures to make sure it does in the future https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-55602828

There's absolutely no point implementing stricter and stricter measures if the areas being targeted have little or zero effect on transmission.

And thats been the problem all along.

"Lots" of restrictions does nothing at all if you constantly ignore the areas that are the main driver of transmission.
