Unfortunately a really long recession, which is exactly what we'll get, would make absolutely no difference at all, in my opinion.
The Covid Zealots are like a "Waco Cult Sect' they are now so indoctrinated in their beliefs that nothing will ever change their thinking. Sadly they have been completely and utterly brainwashed.

Most of the people pro lockdown are the same people least likely to be affected by any sort of recession in the first place.

I'm surprised that more people have not seen the writing on the wall by now. The massive debt accumulation and money printing by the government is unsustainable. Small businesses and self employment will struggle to recover. The public sector and big business are under the influence of the social justice movement and greens who want ever more intervention and control of our lives. At some stage ordinary people will have to become more sceptical and vocal if they care about their freedom and democracy.
