Thanks Richard and others for your comments. But why have we not only ignored the lessons of 2009 but gone much further with this immoral madness? I guess because all the democratic "checks and balances" have fallen by the wayside.

The article by Sebastian Friebel which Toby flagged up today "The future shape of things" is very thought-provoking and a should be required reading for anyone who cares about democracy and our future well-being.

I'm also trying to read "Surveillance Capitalism" Prof Shoshana Zubof. It's heavy going and scary.

I'm also reading "Corona False Alarm"

I think they are running a sort of test to see what it would be like if a really bad virus with an infection fatality rate og 60% came along:

like crackpot Dom mentions here: https://dominiccummings.com/2019/03/04/

I think a lot of this is new entirely saving face.
They wont want to admit they've made a huge mistake, killed hundreds of thousands of people and destroyed the economy for decades to come for NO reason.
So they're doubling down - always claim they're doing whats needed, never admit defeat.
Entirely to save face rather than admit they got it wrong.

Almost no country in the world, certainly Europe followed the ACTUAL WHO and ECDC agreed pandemic plans. One country panics, another sees that, panics itself and the rash of hysteria spreads globally.
The repeated pandemic health scares caused by an avian H5N1 and a new A(H1N1) human influenza virus are part of the culture of fear.1–3 Worst-case thinking replaced balanced risk assessment. Worst-case thinking is motivated by the belief that the danger we face is so overwhelmingly catastrophic that we must act immediately. Rather than wait for information, we need a pre-emptive strike. But if resources buy lives, wasting resources wastes lives. The precautionary stocking of largely useless antivirals and the irrational vaccination policies against an unusually benign H1N1 virus wasted many billions of euros and eroded the trust of the public in health officials.4–6 The pandemic policy was never informed by evidence, but by fear of worst-case scenarios.

In both pandemics of fear, the exaggerated claims of a severe public health threat stemmed primarily from disease advocacy by influenza experts.

Swap out H5N1 and every single thing documented here by the WHO 2011 bulletin is being done this time. Everything based on "reasonable worst case scenarios" not most likely scenarios, no balanced risk assessment.
Almost the whole world has fallen into the trap identified 9 years ago.

Exactly. This is where 'conspiracy' is to be found - the covering up of mistakes and misunderstandings. If they had any prepared plan beforehand, they would have done a better job of covering up the statistics that lead to their exposure. So whether there is any 'intelligent' conspiracy deeper behind it all is moot.

Except most countries appear to be making the same errors, and even one that wasn't - namely Sweden - is now going the same way, despite non-alarming statistics.
