Isn't it the case of artificially preventing our immune systems from fighting off billions of viruses and bacteria? Which our bodies perform daily? W/o usual exercise, aren't we going to be more at risk of previously marginal threats? Just curious
Well spotted Greggsy yes of course this is the case. The immune system is constantly monitoring and adjusting to threats posed.
People seem to fail to realise the skin is an absorber, constant administration of sanitiser is detrimental to the ingumentary system and equally damaging to other bodily systems. Similarly with the respiratory system the efficient exhalation of carbon dioxide is as important as the intake of oxygen, masks prevent this efficient flow, if face coverings were required, Mother Nature would have provided us with them. Instead Mother nature gave us a highly sophisticated immune system, but all these current measures are detrimental to that sophisticated system.
All in all these measures are to protect the reputation of politicians and scientists in charge of them in the present moment,in order to make it look like they are doing something, they do not care about the long term damaging effects of such measures. They will be retired with huge pensions and with lucrative book and public speaking deals by then. It is Joe Public like you and l that will suffer in the short, medium and long term. On top of this we now have the government telling people, including old people, to open windows at home, in December, this is utter madness!!!!!
I never heard that one re opening windows at home in December ( i ignore most news now). My answer to that ludicrous suggestion is up yours . Not a hope in hell will I willingly freeze in my own home..
😀

My late mother was fond of telling me a story: when I was a baby and just starting to crawl around she was horrified to see me picking things up off the floor and putting them in my mouth. She would stop me and proudly told my pediatrician at some follow-up of her fine motherly work. He replied: "No. This is wrong. You must not stop him. This is natural behaviour. Let him explore the world. That is how his immune system will build up."
(Btw I have since outgrown that habit ... I now walk around and pick things up off bars and put them in my mouth and so far, so fine 😀 )
And, yes, they have closed the gyms. For decades doctors have been convincing people that exercise is good for you. Now, a bunch of academic virologists (totally divorced from real-life doctors who actually see patients in surgeries, like my pediatrician) are saying that exercising can lead to you killing your gran. Wow.
And some failed lawyers (otherwise they would be practising) who are in political office because of "safe seats", turn this academic posturing into "health policy" and enforceable legislation.
What a mess.

Well if you're of the view masks are useless (i am) then wearing one isnt going to cause issues as its not preventing your immune system from doing anything...
They may cause issues with CO2 retention (not oxygen levels) *if* sealed well and someone is breathing at a very high rate such as heavy exertion or exercise. This is going to be in the form of a headache, a feeling of being unable to breathe and elevated breathing rate. It can cause panic in a feedback cycle.
I've had Hypercapnia a few times (not from a mask) and its unpleasant.
However its not going to be an issue if someone isnt undergoing heavy exertion at the time.
There is anecdotal evidence in children that if they're sheltered from too much dirt and disease their immune systems go wild and they're prone to many many allergies.
