With a sample size of over 300 million, the evidence appears clear. Lockdowns do not work. With non lockdown states experiencing 5.6% more deaths from Covid than lockdown states, the evidence is overpowering.
Look too at the governments own assessment of lockdown deaths. This is the lead article on the 31st Jan 2021 lockdown sceptics page, and there is this quote...
"The Government paper says the overall death toll of the pandemic will be 222,000, with 54% dying from the virus." - This is pretty damning, it says that 46% of deaths will be due to lockdown!
The government argue that in total less people will die because of lockdown taking into account the extra lockdown deaths. But we see from the US that this is simply not true.
Lockdowns cause MORE people to die of Covid.
Lockdowns cause people to die of Lockdowns.
Lockdowns massively reduce quality of life, not just in the lockdown country but around the world due to reduced economic activity.
Lockdown has been a disaster.

The government has no wish to argue, it's too late now for more lockdowns to do much good (even if they had worked before), since the first and second winter waves have both peaked and the virus is quickly declining to Spring/Summer lows. Any future waves in e.g. autumn will be much attenuated by vaccination, no need or call for heavy restrictions.
The only reason the government would argue is to protect its reputation, but, with 108,000 dead, it's reputation is in tatters anyway. It's probably better politically to let sleeping dogs lie.

I am all for letting sleeping dogs lie, but last time I looked those dogs are still howling and barking and biting if you try and live a normal life. We have to keep pressing them with the facts about the disaster of lockdown.
One additional point not mentioned in my first post. As someone else pointed out, the amount of life lost by each death is very different. With Covid deaths, the amount of life lost is very small. With lockdown, the amount of life lost is much higher as younger people are dying, including children. The cost benefit case against lockdown is so overwhelming it would be laughed out of court.
I hope that the government stop digging as the hole they are in is a very deep and obvious one.

One additional point not mentioned in my first post. As someone else pointed out, the amount of life lost by each death is very different. With Covid deaths, the amount of life lost is very small.
yes Lord Sumption tried to say that, and was shot straight down by a woman dying of cancer who said "how dare you say my life is less valuable than yours". Lord Sumption should have showed more Gumption. He was quite crest fallen. You should not bring it up, since it greatly hardens opinion against you. It is a case that cannot win. Even mentioning it makes you evil.

It's been tried in the highest court in the land, Parliament, and it was not laughed out .

They have stopped digging, and they are trying to get out since it's too late now for more lockdowns to do much good even if they had worked before. They are hoping to get out in time for the election. We'll see.
