Amongst our friends, large numbers of people are currently quietly breaking the rules in private but will not advertise the fact. So more worried what the neighbors think / worried about their social standing. Publicly compliance is high.

Friends with basement conversions are popular and hosting dinner parties, others are worried about being overlooked.

When you meet friends at an illicit party it obviously gives you a good view of where they are on the spectrum and the network of resisters grows a bit. The worry is most will still act (and talk) compliant afterwards in public

I hope we will get to a point where everyone realises everybody else is pretending

Each new rule people do mock it a little more and comply a little less

However, Sadly I don't think we are quite there yet in terms of a tipping point
