Where equilibrium kills more than a hundred a day, which I estimate at least that many or far more sometimes with the current state of affairs.
I think that is too high a price for many people hence the present political bind which you may or may nor agree with (even though we get it with flu), we need an equilibrium balanced much closer to ""quite safe to go out".
I think public opinion could stand. say, 100 true covid19 deaths a week, that's looking at a bit higher than road traffic accident numbers at that rate. I don't think you could draw a line under it and let it go until deaths are 10 a day, say versus 100 at present at least.
With that you could get away with hey WTF! More than that seems heartless. I think a vaccine for the foggies can take us to fewer than 100 deaths a week, with mild, sensible social distancing, I see a political route out of this mess based on vaccines.
