I agree. Blair ( not 'Mr') and his family profited hugely from the foot 'n mouth epidemic in 2001. Neil Ferguson emerged as the proponent of mass culling of healthy animals to deal with it then. The army were brought in to terrorise the rural population and the first assault oin freedoms that I am aware of happened then. I have never forgiven either Blair or Ferguson for what happened then.

I wouldn't listen to a word he says..

Yes, he has captured the attention of those who do listen the words he says, and now the matter is being discussed by SAGE and government. I don't know but is would be wrong to ignore a potentially good idea, wherever it originated.

"52.4% vaccine efficacy between dose 1 and dose 2,

Pfizer are talking about the time between doses. Dr Salisbury is talking about the period directly after the 2nd dose but before 2nd dose kicks in, i.e. the result of the 1st vaccine. It turns out that that 1st dose of vaccine had given 91% efficacy. hence 2nd dose, when it takes effect, only lifts efficacy by 3%. not worth it.

That is not what the Pfizer results say.
Nor Moderna.
Nor Oxford.

*ESPECIALLY* on the older age group who are the reason 2 doses are needed as their immune systems need more to adjust.

No idea who that "doctor" is but he claims have no basis in fact for any of the 3 vaccines approved in the world so far.

Nor Moderna.Nor Oxford.

Moderna and Oxford have nothing whatsoever to do with it.

the older age group who are the reason 2 doses are needed as their immune systems need more to adjust.

I don't know about any of that.

prof David salisbury mentioned a New England Journal of Medicine study that reported the first dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine to have 91% efficacy, compared with 95% for two doses. The press article is here

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/dec/23/more-data-needed-before-second-vaccine-dose-diverted-to-first-timers-says-covid-adviser

I think Salisbury is claiming that, before dose 2 kicks in, efficacy is already 91% down to dose 1. If he is right, then the 1 dose policy is sound, else not sound. Time will tell, since we don't know.
