I finally got a response to the freedom of Information request:
Total cost: £794870.07
number of police officers: 1340
Number of police vehicles: 110 carriers and 30 minibuses
only metropolitan police force, city of london police force and British transport police were involved
Not quite as bad as I expected but still what a waste of police resources!
