Hi,
I was watching Men in Black recently again with my little boy, and one scene made me think of the current situation. The world is about to be blown up by the Arquillians to ensure that "The Galaxy" doesn't fall into the wrong hands, and Agent Jay freaks out saying:
Agent Jay: "Man, we ain't got time for this cover-up bullshit! I don't know whether or not you've forgotten, but there's an Arquillian Battle Cruiser that's about to..."
But he is interuppted by Agent Kay, who notes:
Agent Kay: "There's always an Arquillian Battle Cruiser, or a Corillian Death Ray, or an intergalactic plague that is about to wipe out all life on this miserable little planet, and the only way these people can get on with their happy lives is that they DO NOT KNOW ABOUT IT!"
This made me think of the current "pandemic", and when I try to explain to friends that this is nothing new or special, and that 50k odd people died in the 2018 flu season without much more than one or two headlines about the hospitals been full, and that we should just carry on as normal. There's always soime new disease making its way through the population (why else would virologists and epidemiologists even exist). It's just that we don't normally take much notice of people like Neil Ferguson and get in a panic about it.
A clip is here:

It's a shame that there aren't more Agent Kays, as it seems somebody told the people about the Arquillian Battle Cruiser this time around.
Grub.
