efficacy and safety
How can we be assured of the "efficacy and safety" if the two-year safety trials have not been completed
It's a valid point ad I'm glad I do not have to make those choices. I can only say what I think.
Statistics already show the efficacy.
re: safety. Oxford did test it on monkeys.
It is impossible to ever say at any point, that any medicine is absolutely safe. The bigger and longer the trial, the more certain we can be that we know all the long term effects. Hence the trials are continuing and data is still being collected.
It's a dilemma since there are benefits of approving use on the basis of what tests we have had time to do. It would not be right to ignore those benefits.
Hence it is necessary for experts to weigh the benefits of use against the chance that some long term risk has not been exposed yet. This is always the case whatever the length of a trial. It is a delicate balance.
Experience shows sometimes it goes wrong, e.g. Thalidomide. Much more often it goes right. We build on our experience, I hope.
I'm taking it if it's offered because I'm interested in my own survival.
That's why I'm not taking it.
Certainly not one of the RNA vaccines which type has never been used commercially before and are already known for plenty of unpleasant side effects. There has been no explanation that I'm aware of for the efficacy difference when the dosage was screwed up in the Astrazeneca trial. This stuff has been rushed through for sure for economic reasons. I'm happy to rely on herd immunity so let the other wildebeests take the risks for me as they seem quite happy to do so.
If it comes to that given the info I've seen about how much earlier it was in circulation than the Chinese admit I may have already had it. Both my wife and I had a very persistent cough for a couple of weeks back in mid October 2019 onwards and following that my daughter and her partner were pretty ill with "something" that reawakened her Asthma which had been absent for many years. She could have caught it from us for sure.

I had that too, and a stoke in March FFS! Covid-19 is said to cause clotting. I'm still only half recovered.

Given the way the Chinese government cover up of the SARs CoV 1 outbreak in 2003 was organized you take the arrest in April 2019 of Dr Jiang Yanyong as a very good indicator of when SARs CoV 2 first came to the notice of the Chinese government. For a large outbreak in Wuhan starting in October 2019 an April 2019 start date for the first cluster outbreak looks about right, epidemiologically speaking
The Tienanmen Square letter story is a pretty standard cover story. He had been writing those letter for decades.

The official Chinese government cover up was breached in 2003 for a short time (by Hong Kong researchers and Dr Jiang) and then manipulated for a few months for purely internal Chinese Politburo political reasons and when it was not longer political expedient all information was shutdown again and they were back to full cover up mode. All medical information in China becoming strictly controlled state secrets again.
Because animal testing was done and as with every other vaccine, the 2 year review happens after the vaccine is already being delivered.
Thank you. It's difficult to find information about animal testing with the mRNA vaccines currently being used here in the US. I did find one abstract that mentions animal testing: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30972078/
This is from March 2019. I wasn't able to find something definitive that talked about animal trials for the new Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. I could have missed something or didn't look hard enough.
It also surprised me that vaccines are rolled out before the clinical trials are completed. But if I understand correctly, you're saying this is normal practice.
