At the risk of getting boring. The only way out of this impasse is the GBD.
It is the only way to palliate this disease, without causing excess death through the effects of lockdown, resulting from the missed diagnosis of over fatal diseases, suicide, and general poverty related issues per se.
One irony l spotted in the press today was how PHE plan to target the AstraZeneca vaccine at the most vulnerable in society.Hmm but weren't we previously told GBD was not an option because there was no way to identify the vulnerable. Hmm seems to me that they CAN easily be identified when it suits the government and SAGE then. Surprise surprise more BS from Johnson, Hancock, SAGE et al. I hope one of you data recording types is keeping acurate records of all these inconsistencies, so when the time comes they can be used in court to try these clowns.
Guaranteed as this is a seasonal virus like the other HCOVs rates will drop last spring and they'll credit this to lockdown because they're stuck into that mindset.
Positive test % ratio in Wales is starting to drop and has been for a week (*BEFORE* the latest lockdown). You can absolutely guarantee it'll be put down to lockdown being effective.
They're so convinced lockdown works they'll put any decrease down to it even if the timing shows otherwise. The reverse is also true, any increase under lockdown they'll just put down to lockdown not being hard or long enough.
I really have no idea how they can get out of that mindset.

They could start by growing up a bit. Look Splatt, lockdowns "work", i.e. they kick the can down the road, you've said so yourself. That's all politicians and public health officials ever do. Politicians kick the can down the road until the election, and public health officials kick the can down the road until something else happens because they know that all political lives (and nothing is more political than public health) end in failure, because that is just the nature of things, and if it all ends in failure anyway then kick that can, why not? Now Mr Hancock's political life just might end in success, due to a vaccine, and that is why he was so relieved on the GMB show that he cried in front f millions, he has no pride he is exhausted like us all.
One of my favourite comedians is Tommy Cooper:
So I went to my doctor and lifted my arm up, just like this. And I said, "Doctor. It hurts when I do this." And he said, "Well, don't do it then."
Anti-covid measures will have to hurt so much that they are no longer used. The sooner we show they are hurting, the sooner it ends.
They don’t care if it’s hurting us, they only care about themselves.
