Sorry, Splatt, but I think you need to read a bit more about North Korea. You don't get shot or sent to a concentration camp for standing as a candidate in a NEU election.

But you certainly don't win unless you're of the right persuasion.
Teachers are blackmailed in that a only a union offers the legal protection they need to do their job but as a result are just used as pawns for political means by the same unions.

Trade unions in generally are the biggest regressive organisation in the modern era.

You're ignoring the point that union officials are elected by the members. So it's daft to portray them as the most repressive organisations out there but I'll leave you to have the last word.

I just heard from friends in the Cambridge area who sent their children to school yesterday, since the mother works for the NHS and is thus a "key worker".

He tells me the schools are getting crowded with too many parents claiming "key worker" status.

Some schools are now stipulating both parents must be "key workers".

The definition of "key worker" spans just about anybody in health, transport, infrastructure, the courts, police, fire-fighters, supermarkets and food ... the list goes on. (But apparently does not include locksmiths!)

So, apparently, teaching the children of all these "key-workers" is perfectly safe and nobody is going to die as a result. But if the kids of ... a musician or some such go into a school, then it suddenly becomes the hotbed of the New Black Death. (Covid is the New Black 😆 )

What is the proportion of kids whose parents are "key workers"?

Is this another farce-in-disguise?

By the way, my friend's wife is an accountant. Not medical staff. But still counts.

"Keyworker" status here was decided by the council.

Pretty much all of the council staff got their kids and friends kids designated as key worker children to go to school.

The system around here was entirely corrupt.
