True. Lockdown lovers always have the most to gain and the least to lose.

Never mind. It'll only be a generation of thick, uneducated children paying the tab.

Après moi, le déluge.

The problem is that teachers are on full pay for not working so what's not to like about indefinite lockdown. The authorities could turn off the tap quickly and the teachers who are so worried about safety would be back in a flash. But we are in the grip of mass hysteria in which politicians won't have regard to data or rational arguments. I fear we just have to wait now till reality breaks through. It always does in the end.

You need to separate teachers from unions.
I cant think of a single teacher that *isnt a union rep* concerned about safety at all.

Most know online learning is absolutely useless and the only way to teach is in person.

Its typical of trade unions everywhere. Use the members for political gains.

Well if teachers are being so badly represented the remedy is in their hands. They could elect different representatives as the unions are democratic institutions. But as long as I can remember teachers have been happy to elect SWP types on fat salaries to represent them and this is the result. And the government nearly always gives in to the blob.

Good luck with that process.
Its about as democratic as a north korean election.

And ultimately, they HAVE to be in a union for the required legal liability protection.
If the government or someone could offer that instead, unions would lose much of their reason for existing.
