Hi
Just read Sherelle Jacobs piece in the Telegraph, and though depressing in it's immediate outlook, she does point out that in time we can win the argument . I personally can't believe that 68% want another lockdown, I've yet to meet anyone who thinks that, mind you our dear pollsters have been as accurate as Unbalanced's graph before.
We need to find a voice, there's plenty of unhappiness, anger even about, but its disparate lone voices, we need to coordinate, plan regular meetings, get a structure and a champion. We need a leader with popular appeal, someone who is going to grab the headlines and steal the debate back from the bedwetters. We need a plan. I was heartened to read that our Toby was having lunch with Lawrence Fox, I'm sure that Nigel Farage would be receptive. Yes this is about the appalling loss of freedom and everyday life, but rather than a single issue movement, Fox is mainly anti woke, Farage Brexit ( not that we are in any shape to make any success of that at the mo).
If we are really going to break the mould change people's lives, we can grow into the type of new political movement that the country needs, based on freedom, patriotism, entreprenuerial spirit, responsibility for one another and at least a bit fairer.
Most people voted for Boris because we thought he was different, not necessarily because he was aTory. In my experience most soulmates only vote Conservative because they dread Labour, particularly with Corbyn (respect to his brother though!!), there is no great love for them, hence their membership is negligable. The only reason they carry on is our voting system, which makes it virtually impossible for new parties, That is why all of the single issue parties need to put egos aside and provide a broad range of new ideas, eg all Public Services not to be Nationalised, but Mutualised, not for profit (they can make a surplus) organisations.
We need to reach out that our organisation would NEVER treat people like this, we have a clear unified approach and we need to 'tap up' a number of disaffected MP's not just 3 or 4 but 20 or 30, may sound fanciful at the moment, but the longer this goes on the more desperate the situation becomes, and who would ever have thought that Bojo would have behaved like this a year ago, these are strange times and withe growing realisation that many MPs' will be toast at the next election?.....
I am in 😄 I and I think many people feel totally helpless watching events unfold before our very eyes. Yes you can refuse to wear a mask ect and have your little say but collectively is far better than alone.

100% agree.
Personally, I'd like to go further and simply abolish the national government in favour of Britain being a federation of states, similar to the cantons of Switzerland.
As long as we have national parties that can vote (or abstain) en bloc, we will always be at risk from the kind of capturing of the state that we are currently witnessing.
That said, it seems that Switzerland has also drunk the lockdown Kool-Aid, so I'm probably just talking out of my arse.
Hi
Thanks for reading my post, still pretty new to this game,
With reference to the last post, I see there is a move to have a referendum against lockdowns in Switzerland? Fingers crossed for them. Yes I thought 'The Gnomes of Zurich' would be fairly sceptical. I do agree with you though that our whole system stinks, which is why they're terrifying people into thinking that they are actually trying to save them. All they are doing is deperately trying to cover their own arses for making the some of the worst, most catastrophic decisions in the peacetime history of Britain EVER!
I just wish I knew how to get started, though I did vote for the earlier incarnation of Boris, I'm not a member of any party, and would never join any of the main three definately not now. Though there was a rare appearence of the Lib Dems being......Liberal the other day, I have marked that one down on the Calendar!!
Not sure how much out Toby reads the forums? but it would be good to ask him about setting up new party, maybe there's some of you have more of an idea, the point is it needs to have broad appeal, hence what I mentioned about creating mutuals. I think we need to look at the Scandi countries, from the left and Japan and Korea on the right, the fact that yes there is inequality but not the vast under class that both Mrs T and Tony B ignored. Heavily populated poorer areas with higher levels of poor health and life chances, living in run down close knit, multi generational communities is a recipe for disaster with something like this. Yes, population and all of that is an issue, but that is for another thread with someone else.
BTW I'm not a socialist, because I appreciate that in order to invest in these areas there has to be wealth creation, which the state needs to keep its neb out.
Another hot potato, now made almost impossible is to sort out the NHS, the clinicians Doctors Nurses, Paramedics, and countless other front line staff are immense, I would like to propose that they get a Maltese Style award of the VC. The Suits, the bureaucrats, PHE want parading round the Tower in shame . We need a locally base regionally focused approach, flexible and able to support the needs of its community. Whilst it should be sacrosanct that it is free at point of service, if the private sector of foreign organisations can offer help then why not? as long as there predetermined transparent service level agreements which are regularly scrutinised
Anyway rant over ! Keep well and solidarity to you all.
