The Right to Protest about Lockdown

Has our right to protest been removed?

It seems that you can protest - provided that you can guarantee that your protest will be Covid-secure. Which, given the nature of large protests means you can’t protest! This is genuinely frightening. How can the growing ranks of lockdown dissenters make their views known?.

Where there have been protests the police have issues fines to the organisers and the press have portrayed protesters as conspiracy theorists and right wing fascists.

Latest outrage is that pub goers in London asked to ID themselves to staff with proof of address to police households not mixing. This feels like a terrifying slide into a very unhappy world. Can you imagine being told this a year ago?

How can we protest against this madness? Are protests being organised? I have not seen any. Would it be possible to have a sensible mainstream theme which cannot be used by the BBC to undermine legitimate protest. In other words can we focus on the erosion of civil liberties, lockdown and the economy rather that the “ahem” more colourful theories being aired in these forums.
