Sweden has 3x the deaths/million population of neighbouring and similar Denmark.

Sweden is also not Denmark.
Compare Sweden to Sweden.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/525353/sweden-number-of-deaths/

Sweden death rate for 2020 is an 8% increase over mean of prior 9 years.

Its OK to compare Sweden to the UK, when it support an argument. but mustn't compare to the neighbours, when it doesn't. Is that the principle at play.

Someone walks up to you in the street and offers you some pills, you ask "what do these do?" they respond "dunno.".

Would you take them? Would you advocate that other people take them?

The answer to both of those questions appears to be 'Yes'.

You're offered a pioneering medical treatment for your ailment that has gone through all the normal channels to prove its safe.

Except it really hasn't, has it. If it had, I wouldn't have had the flippant, "It turns you into a goat". I would have had a list of possible side effects with a list of cited study sources.

Well, it's a very, very, very small chance of turning you into a goat, or something else, on the other hand it has a fairly high chance of preventing a person getting sick from or transmitting covid19. That is a known fact.

Except none of the current vaccines claim to stop transmission, so I think you need to get your facts straight before claiming them as "known".

I won’t be having the vaccine but would encourage anyone who wants it to have one.

Good. I will take it.

1. I suspect that the Govt realises it cocked up and this is their way out without losing face or attracting litigation. Much as I would like heads on spikes, if it ends lockdown quickly that’s all that matters at this moment (until the public inquiries start).

Yes.I'm not as cynical. What happened is: they consulted the science and it leaked (from Vallance) that they might experiment with Herd immunity (the leak did happen) and the media went wild, causing an instinctive denial and reverse ferret by the government and its advisers. After that, they were pressed into lockdown in a political vice. One exaggeration/panic led to another iteration and we arrived here. To be fair, the true infection fatality ratio only came out after a long time so the problem came on slowly. They believe they had no other option but to gamble as they did and put their money on lockdown. Yes, in the cold light of hindsight, a cock up but they fear admitting it due to sunk cost fallacy. They'll press on the the end now whether we riot or not. The die is cast.
2. Rising expectations among those who have had the vaccine, mostly those we have called “sheeple” who have trusted Government, followed the rules, wore masks etc. Most revolutions happen when rising expectations are dashed. There will be too many of these people for the Government to disappoint without serious repercussions.

I don't think they worry about revolutions, we're British and we write to our MPs. But the government does care about the the 1922 committee, the media and the consequences of covid19/lockdown. But SAGE planted the far fetched idea of vaccine in their heads, a Deus Ex Machina. Of course they fully committed to that, like children offered a day out at Disneyland, Anaheim, they could not believe their luck! And it turns out that vaccines are not at all far fetched, they have become banal developments, routinely sequenced and churned out on a super computer in no time. Bravo to the drug designers, who today can modify vaccine designs to fit any variant almost as fast as nature can churn the variants. We can even predict the variants most likely to occur, and have precreated tested designs just in case they ever crop up./in fact, I strongly expect that to take place, And machine learning will soon be able to make variant predictions. Nature is fast but we are catching up.

I just want an end to lockdown.

I'm on your side. For the sake of our children, everyone over 50 should get jabbed.
