The Janssen vaccine and the Oxford vaccine are developed and sold on a not-for-profit basis.

Just because some good people in the supply chain are not profiting does not mean that those that fund them and pull their strings are not profiting.

One of the saddest aspects of this farce is that there are many kind people working hard to benefit others who have been duped and betrayed by those 'above' them.

In the cesspit of life, the biggest chunks rise to the top.

Profit line item is usually not the biggest "cost" ...
lots of salaries, pensions, etc. also going through
even though priced to reduce to eliminate "profit".
Focus on "profit" is often not the full picture.

Scientists have to eat? Should they work for nothing and go begging later?

If you don't pay the scientist, who would they go through university etc. What point are you making?

Love it how people make things up or try to read minds.

My point is that "common practice" is use "profit" to make any point--bad for those who hate profits, and good for those who like profits. Whatever. It's just another line item. There are other financial measures to pay attention to if one wants to use financial measures as a weapon (left or right).

Of coure the real irony is that a lot of people here me included did think the vaccines were the answer to getting out of lockdown.

Scientifically i didn't think vaccines were they way "out". A helpful tool yes, very helpful *but* ultimately the only way out is to live with it and let people catch it.

However the government stated clearly many many times vaccines WERE their policy for a way out so from a UK point of view, they were the solution.

I naively believed that once the vulnerable had been vaccinated we'd go back to normal, allow non-vulnerable people to catch it, establish population immunity and get on with life.

This all changed in 2021 once vaccination started and the end was in sight.

Now Boris is being swayed by the zero-covid lunatics who are saying "yeah i know we said that but we can eliminate this thing. Just a little longer. You'll be a hero"
Boris problem is he wants to be liked by everyone and multiple people have said his policy will be that of the last person who talked to him about a subject.

They then add the "...but if you release and a variant takes hold it'll be your fault. ".

He's on a zero-covid rebranded strategy now.
