In the last few days a very strong pro-vaxx theme has emerged in these discussions.
That's because vaccines dramatically slow the transmission of covid19, as well as protecting the subject from serious illness.

... ad infinitum...
For people desperate to get out of lockdown, thinking that vaccines are the solution seems very irrational.
Great post, best all day, but bonkers. I see where you are coming from Jon. Your point is framed around an older one linking vaccine with disease reduction and hence with ending lockdown. The older post admits that lockdowns and vaccines are just different schemes to limit covid19.
And it really is ironic that people reject that ending lockdowns depends on limiting covid19 by hook or by crook. It is merely a matter of practicality not ideology.
You think the anti-lockdown thinking ought to be matched by a rejection of vaccines. I see why you might put that together but seriously: why should it be? Why should we reject both ways (separation and vaccination) to limit covid19? Nobody wants covid19 to thrive. If lockdown could kill I'd back it, but it can't. So I back vaccine which is driving it down.
So It' s rational to want to dramatically slow the transmission of covid19, as well as protect from a potentially serious illness. You'd be mad not to.
And I don't see the Irony. Perhaps we all are a little mad, with lockdown cabin fever!
they drastically reduce the body count...
That's good enough, better than lockdowns.
What are the possible long term side effects of the various vaccines on offer?
What possible data is there to suggest any?
Do you have a life policy of never taking any medication or any vaccine or any medical procedure until its been on the market a decade or more?
they drastically reduce the body count...
That's good enough, better than lockdowns.
The UK policy is both.
Irrational, illogical but thats what it is.
Not only can nobody die but nobody can be infected. Ever.
For freedom to be made conditional on taking a vaccine means you're not free!
I had a tetanus last year, but I'm not going to be made to have a cv19 vax with EMERGENCY approval. Someone who is 80, well then the risk/rewards are very different
Your freedom is not dependent on taking the vaccine, but your safety will be massively helped by lots of other people doing so.
