Thanks for putting this up, MikeA
A detailed explanation of how mRNA is gene therapy.

But unfortunately the term "gene therapy" has been weaponised , by mischief makers who have somehow planted deep fears about it in the public commons. It is generally regarded as "genetic modification", which itself has been the target of lengthy campaigns by e.g. the Greens. Indeed, the whole concept of genetic engineering, gene therapy and so forth is a terminological no-go zone, since all the terminologies have been weaponized at some point or other. Hence it is a gift to the anti-vaxxers but in a technical sense, it may be true to describe mRNA as gene therapy.

But, for serious people who want to understand a powerful technology, it is necessary to point out that in no way shape or form does mRNA modify your DNA. mRNA vaccines work by introducing some of the genetic instructions of the virus into the upper arm, where your own muscle cells translate them to make a limited number of the viral spike proteins; the usual flow is DNA makes mRNA which makes the spike protein, it does not work in reverse. So your own DNA is never changed by the mRNA vaccine, that is impossible.

Dr John Campbell talks about it well here,7 mins 35 in.

Anti-vaxxer?

Anti-thinker?

Is there a difference between a Vaccine sceptic and an Anti-vaxxer?

There is a difference between someone who understands scepticism is the basis of "good" science because it implies testing the veracity of scientific claims (sceptic) and someone who not accept science whatever the veracity of its claims (anti-). So yes. Why even ask the question?

It would appear not.

It's shamefully childish. We have a serious issue, practical ways yo save lives without trashing our social lives, but then we get covered with all this thick conspiracy hogwash, shames on them.

I don't understand the motive of anti-vaxxers. They can't all be stupid enough to believe the crap they spout. So, are they just seeking to cause harm?
