With some kids going back to school today and some not, can we talk about the rationale for closing schools. From what I belive asymptomatic transmission from chidlren to adults is not a driver of outbreaks. However, I do undertsand that two dyas prior to showing symptoms, someone can be contagious. If that is the case, is closing shcools the right thing to do?
Theres evidence secondary age are a transmission issue (biologically they're basically adults).
Theres no evidence primary age or similar are a risk.
Also test and trace/sage data up to October showed NO higher infection rate amongst teachers than any other job.
Given how utterly vital proper, in person teaching is, theres no way schools should be closed.
Kids have already lost a full school year of development.

Is that to say secondary schools should be closed then?

No. Theres some evidence theres a risk *but* test and trace data hasnt backed that up with real world risk.
Its something to keep an eye on but thats about it.
Everyone seems to be in a blind panic to close everything without actually looking at data and basing it on risk.

Yes, it's a modern thing, an ignorance principle. Their motto is see only evil, hear only evil, speak only evil.
