You know that article was written by two young women with degrees in literature / "studies" with a very thin history of published real news story bylines. And almost all the published material was Guardian / Woke "activist journalism" type pablum.  Basically the sort of people who would have been making the tea in a typical working newsroom a few decades ago because they show no discernible evidence of actual reporting skills from their published copy. But might be useful for door-stopping. Nothing else.

They are paid "fact checkers" by the BBC whose only job is produce mostly badly written official narrative support propaganda.  Thats their job. Just old school Pravda People of the Soviet Era.

Great reporting is not called for it's obvious to the dogs in the street that the Internet is awash with scary false vaccine stories. We have our own residents here dishing it our like mad.

It appears we are presently in a period of intense religious revival, the new creeds being anti-vaxxer and global warming denier. it's worse than ever before in history since this is the first time we've had the Internet spewing out false news  while the crises unfold.

@ruth-learner

unfortunately, there is no search engine algorithm that can just return the truth.

google are doing quite well, if you google 'vaccination' you get about 6 pages of honest material, and very little of the rubbish misinformation, and  You Tube are not as bad as they were. Yoohoo, similar story, if we can get honest vaccine info from the bbc, nhs, phe , jcvi, mrha etc. to come up first in the search engines, perhaps things might improve.I suspect the  anti-vaxx crackpots are hiding in harder to reach places, although we still get a few of them posting rubbish on this site, and harrassing head teachers. I've got rid of two : miahoneybee and speedstick. you just have to be harsh with them , eventually, they move elsewhere to spread their vile lies , rubbish and exaggerations.

Standard one sided article there.

States myocarditis is rare, failed to provide the actual figures.

Sates risk of long covid is higher - fails to provide figures which isnt a shock given thats demonstrably NOT true.

"Most cases of myocarditis after vaccination were resolved quickly following treatment. "

Except those which didn't resolve quickly.  Or in fact at all.

Standard BBC really, makes claims whilst never once actually including any reference to the raw data hoping people won't actually check.

Sounds like excellent work. And it's old news too.

Here's something on this story that's truly revealing: the "tweet" by Andy Byers, head of the Framdurwell state secondary school, quoted in the Independent a fortnight ago:

"Anti-V**xers sending hoax emails to schools purporting to be from

@NHSEnglandMedia and asking us to distribute to all parents…haven’t we got enough to worry about? It’s pretty clear, if you don’t want your child to have the vaccine, fine. The rest has got nothing to do with you"
The bit I've bolded sheds light on the attitude of gauleiters who believe whatever they're told to believe, and who then repeat it with the full authority of their petty office to their punters. They really DO NOT LIKE people joining the dots, ACTING on the basis of having joined the dots, and ENCOURAGING OTHERS to think for themselves and join the dots too. To do all of that is to show more independence of thought, and more courage, than petty bureaucrats have shown in a lifetime. It scares the hell out of them. They get ultra-vicious. There won't be a peep from any of them if the distributors of these forms start getting their doors kicked in at dawn.

A message for Andy: whether a child is vaccinated has EVERYTHING to do with their parents, and it has NOTHING to do with headmasters like him.

Why shouldn't parents consider issues such as whether or not to oppose the state's policy of encouraging the vaccination of their children? Why shouldn't they talk to each other? The question may be above a headmaster's pay grade, but hey, it's not "above" the responsibility of parents, or indeed the rest of us.

Does he really think we are so powerful?

Guys like him despise self-education, which is to say education, with a vengeance.

"Does he really think we are so powerful?"

... Or as Bertolt Brecht put it in "Pavel's Prison Song":

They’ve got all their law books and their regulations,
They’ve got all their prisons and fortresses.
All their welfare institutions don’t really count.
They’ve got all their prison guards and judges
Who are overpaid and far too keen to oblige them
Well why’s that then?
Do they really think they will wear us down with all that?

Before they vanish, and that will be soon,
They will surely notice
That all that cannot help them any more.
All that cannot help them any more

They’ve got their newspapers and printing presses
With which to attack us and silence our voices.
All their statesmen we don’t need to count.
They’ve got their parsons and their professors
Who are overpaid and far too keen to oblige them
Well why’s that then?
Is it because the truth’s so frightening?

Before they vanish, and that will be soon,
They will surely notice
That all that cannot help them any more.
All that cannot help them any more

They’ve got their tanks and their cannons,
Their policemen and their soldiers.
Well why’s that then?
Is it because their enemy’s so powerful?

They think they must find some support soon
To halt their imminent fall.
One fine day, though, and that will be soon,
They’ll come to see that that’s not good to them at all.
They can shout out and oh they won’t stop now –
Neither money nor cannon will answer their call.
They can shout out and oh they won’t stop now –
Neither money nor cannon will answer their call.
