Yes. The problem is exacerbated by an increase in the aged population - who are, of course, more susceptible to covid.
And people are getting less healthy. The UK has huge issues with cardio fitness, obesity and general metabolic health.
All known COVID risk factors.
As a whole our population is significantly less healthy than others.
Just for your info, folks. It's Unherd not Unheard as I've noticed people often get the spelling wrong. In which case they won't find the website.
It is truly obscene how politicians try to foist the vulnerability (alleged or not) of the health services, onto the public - those same tax-payers who fund it.
The politicians decide how the tax money is distributed and, when they under-fund the health services and leave them exposed to even a slight crisis such as this, they then turn around and blame the taxpaying users of that system.
Be in no doubt: the clapping on Thursdays was NOT for the NHS, It was for Hancock & co.
Since 2008, banks have had to undergo annual "stress tests" to make sure they can face up to another crunch. And, since time immemorial, militaries carry out exercises and war-games to make sure they are ready, "just in case".
What this corona-shower has shown, is that the health services (a) have no crisis plan in case anything new happens and (b) there is zero slack.
And what do the politicians do - those same characters who underfunded the system - they come out and tell us to clap and stay home to help the system that they undermined.
And then they tell us that if we get together with our families over Christmas, we are betraying this system - the one they undermined through underfunding from people's taxes.
Really?
Ok michael h thanks for that ..
