Just a short post and question...
Traveling by road near Exeter saw one of those small electronic road signs..
'Slow down save the NHS'
Wow! Now seems the potential for having an accident will now cripple our ailing NHS.
Is this a one off or are other people seeing this and similar?...
Also I tried my first non wearing a mask moment in a takeaway.... Got refused service! 😡 😆 so walked out, they won't be getting my business again.
I will point out for the 5 minutes I waited to even place my order, 2 workers were fiddling with their masks constantly. Pulling them up and down more times than a whore's drawers, the 3rd had NO mask until he decided to serve and then refuse to serve me... WTF??!! Now we have the takeaway Stasi...
I travel, shop, go to work and the drs. To pubs and restaurants (before Nov, the 5th). Every time I am asked to wear a mask (rarely) I decline politely. Avoiding eye contact could help - many people find this confrontational. No further problems. Don't just give up because of this "first time unlucky". Every time I meet another person with no mask I feel there's hope and that common sense will eventually prevail. It also makes me feel a bit less lonely in the world. You could make my day! 🙂
"Now seems the potential for having an accident will now cripple our ailing NHS". Yes, soon It's going to be "save the police, don't call 999" 🙁
I've seen the road signs too... Amusing drive along messages!
I wear a sunflower lanyard that I got from the Hidden Disabilities website... Its about £3...
I've been shopping in town, supermarkets, convenience stores and B&Q and have never had even a second look... Some of the door stasi give me weird sorry looking nods like I've got some terminal disease which is hilarious.
One guy in an indoor market said I have to wear a mask so I waved my lanyard at him and told him I was exempt. The cheeky sod then asked why so I told him he wasn't supposed to ask (that is in the covid act) and he laughed and said he knew that but was being nosey!!
As long as you are confident to reply that 'you aren't allowed to ask why' then you're set... Even the police aren't allowed to ask... Take a read through the covid act for wording.
The take away that you walked out of are clearly hypocritical morons who don't deserve your trade.
It’s beyond bonkers. Most people treats their mask with little regard to sanitation but don’t seem concerned in the slightest.
I’ve come to the conclusion that masks give people some sort of an illusion of control. They’re defended very fiercely by a lot of my friends and I find the goalposts move whenever I point to information which suggests they don’t live up to their intended purpose, they’ll find another justification.
Feels like i’m going mad. I’m very left leaning so it seems strange to find myself a bit stranded. I miss the old left
Wouldn't roadside messages like that be likely to distract people, increasing the number of accidents? Drivers will be used to signs which state speed limits, and temporary messages which are directly about the road like "Lane closure ahead". Their brains will process them automatically. But a new kind of sign will demand conscious attention which would be better devoted to driving.
Fortunately there are heart-warming signs around too, albeit directed at pedestrians. Yesterday I saw an anti-distancing sticker on a lamppost which said "Hands, Face, Embrace", and had in one corner a little crown with the words "Not MY government".
